About the Author

Riley Mackenzie~Authors Yep. That's an “s.” There are two of us! We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us. It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know. So you can easily find us at 4 o'clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations). When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school. Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine? Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know). So that’s our story, who we are … just add AUTHORS to the list!

OOH, Love Asher. What a lovely wonderful man.

Great to catch up with Chase and Lili. Their wedding sounded idyllic.

So Asher is a player, not ever wanting to settle down doesn't do commitment! He goes through women like a dose of salts!

He has a change meeting with Talia, who is a blast from the past; turns out Talia was part of the original group, she was Kimi (Chase's twin sister) best friend, but disappeared over night, so it seemed.

We go through with Chase and Lili, as they navigate their married life, dealing with the bad luck with conceiving.

As a group of friends there is enough love to fill a football stadium.

Talia and Asher begin to get serious, they start to enjoy each others company, both learning about each other. Although Talia is keeping a secret. He finds out about the secret, and takes it very hard but eventually they work it out. That was totally unexpected.

Asher's fathers heath is deteriorating so they spend time with them, catching everyone by surprise, Asher brings a girl home!

Chase finds out about siblings, and is brooding, then the drama kicks up a notch when the freak from Lili's past turns up whilst Chase is working. Asher steps in to protect his friends girl. The lunatic wants to hurt Lili, unfortunately Talia gets caught in the crossfire! turning Asher and her son Tack on their heads!

The suspense - Oh my word!

We have to wait to find out what damage has been done, and Asher has to navigate how to best care for Talia, with the help of his family they rally around him. Talia gets badly hurt and her recovery begins to a strain on their relationship, they are struggling to come to terms with the long term effects of her accident.

Really enjoyed Chase and Lili in Beautifully Awake, but this second book just blew me away. This was Chase' s best friend Asher' s story and told from his perspective. The story just blended in with the previous book, and as I hoped we heard lots more about Chase and Lili and their struggles to become parents, however the storyline front and centre was reserved for Asher and Talia the love of his life. Obviously someone with a medical background wrote this as it was so well done and well written you could just feel everyone's intensity and pain. Not to spoil anyone's enjoyment but the epilogue was gut wrenching off the charts and I sobbed my heart out. Love it when a book grabs me like this one did, and I read a lot of books. Very highly recommend this book but it will read better if you read Beautifully Awake first. As for a third book RM? Yes please from me cannot wait. Keep up the good work!!

Wow I'm stunned speechless.
What a beautiful book...a once in a lifetime love that is what Asher & Talia had...it was beautiful and breathtaking and I adored every last minute of it.
Asher was a strong but sensitive male lead...I loved it was in his POV and the writing was brilliant...as a female character I loved Talia too...their love was not without problems and hurdles but you always felt they would make it together...what they had was truly unique...two hearts one soul.
I was just feeling safe and content and then....Woah! Way to pull the rug out from under me...I was stunned and believe me when I say I totally broke down at this point....however sadness was eased just a little when I realised that nothing could ever come between them...their connection was unbreakable and their story was beautifully done x

Wow, I loved this! I had been patiently waiting for this book since the moment I read the last page of Beautifully Awake and Asher did not disappoint!

Lawyer and ladies’ man Asher Craig is Chase’s best friend. He was a generous and caring man but a total commitment-phobe. BUT a blast from the past in the form of one of his oldest and dearest friends, Talia walks back into his life and rocks his foundations. It didn’t matter to him that she disappeared and left him when he really needed her 19yrs ago, he found himself completely smitten from the offset. Seeing her after all those years awoke his feelings for her and had him reminiscing about their past. Although Talia was more guarded, she too was completely taken by him and they fell back into a comfortable friendship. That’s all I will say about the plot as this story is too good not to have you discover their journey first hand without spoilers.

Asher is adorable around Talia. Their sexual tension is steamily apparent and I was really rooting for them to make it! Of course, like all gripping love stories, their relationship didn’t always run smoothly. They needed to work at it. This book is told in Asher’s point of view and I have to say I totally and utterly adored him. He is successful, a loving family man, a wonderfully supportive friend, swoony and although he may joke around and act like he doesn’t care he is a big softie, very romantic and sexy! *sigh*

“I’m gonna kiss you now. It’s gonna be slow and soft and then it’s gonna be hard and hungry.”

We get to see quite a bit of Lili, Chase and friends from Beautifully Awake (Book 1). The humour and banter between them all was fantastic and very believable.

This was a book that I just couldn’t put down.
