I downloaded this after seeing the sheer amount of 5 star reviews, I genuinely cannot understand how this has gotten such glowing reviews. The first few pages I was immediately struck by the extremely amateur style of writing, it honestly sounds like the inner-monologue of a schoolgirl. The main character Ember is supposed to be a shy 23 year old virgin but this is constantly condradicted throughout the book(she punches men, shouts at her love rivals, gets up to sing in bars..)and she is apparently intelligent enough to be awarded a scholarship and pursue a career as a writer, but acts and sounds like a teenager(some of the things she says to Trace made me physically cringe)and after meeting the dark and not so mysterious Trace decides to follow him, invite him out running, go on 2am motorcycle rides with him and turns up at his apartment unnanounced(wallflower hmm?). My main problem with this book wasn't the one dimensional characters(no personality AT ALL)or even the terrible writing, it was the fact that there was no sense of time at all in the book, on one page you'd have Trace and Ember on a date, then in the next sentence they'd be at her dads for thanksgiving and literally the next paragraph would be set 2 weeks later. I've read 50 shades trilogy, Bared to You trilogy(Crossfire series), Gabriels Inferno 1 & 2 & Beautiful Disaster, thought this book might be similar, please take my advice if you liked any of the books I mentioned, this is badly written, embarassingly so and the characters are so lifeless and un-interesting that you'll be bored within the first few chapters, I made it 60% through and gave up, it just got worse. Don't waste your time buying this, if you're still curious, download the free sample and you'll understand what I mean..

Loved it, loved it, loved it!

This is a MUST read, one of my top favourites. So many romance books spend the majority of the book where the main characters constantly fight against their feelings for one another and unite at the end, we have all read these books over and over, it is therefore very refreshing that this book really is different, the characters are fantastic, writing is excellent, story plot superb, the only negative is getting to the end, this is one book I wished went on forever!

A true fan!

One of the best books I have ever read....I stayed up till 4 am because I couldn't put it down......if you love Christian Grey and Gideon Cross then you will absolutely adore Trace Montgomery....not as racy as the Fifty Shades or Crossfire books but the storyline and characters make it a better read....an absolute must holiday book!!! "L.A. Fiore.....MORE PLEASE!!!!!

When I started this book I was unsure whether I would enjoy or not, but quickly I realized how much I loved it.
The characters were amazing and I found sometimes I cried right through bits and had to reread bits.
I found the part when trace tells ember about the abuse he and sister had suffered very moving and I wanted to hug them both.
A brilliant read from a author I haven't read before

I LOVED THIS BOOK.. I have to say that this book was not even on my TBR list last week but a friend told me to read it as she thought I would like it. Boy was she right this book was amazingly good and i enjoyed every last word of it!

You quickly get to know and become attached to the characters in this story and genuinely care about what happens to them. even the characters that are not in it continuosly or come in to the story later you build an attachment to. Throughout this story there is real heartbreak about things that happen in life that impact you permanently. On more than one accasion i felt my heart shatter a little at revalations the characters made that just broke your heart a little. But also there were moments of great joy aswell.
Ember is a great female lead and is not your average whiney pushover lead who just comes running or goes of crying and i loved her strentgh and belief throughout this story. Trace well there is so much I could say but in honesty Beautifully Damaged just sum's him up so perfectly.. I love him!!! :)

I need to say that at one point in this book something happens that truly hurts Ember and although I have read this kind of thing in other books I really felt her heartbreak and it took MY breath away for her, that is an amazing feat for an author to achieve and is a testament to what a great writer L.A Fiore is. I am so glad that there will be further books as I really and honestly did not want this story to end.

I loved this book - all the elements in a romance that i love, solid characters with troubled history, lots of angst ( i love a HEA but i want some problems before they get there !) a good length so i can really immerse myslef and the main characters to be people I want to root for. Ember is great - so persevering and trace - with all his problems - he needed someone like her who could see beyond his goodlooks and love 'em leave 'em policy. What drew me though was the back story that expained how he was like that - the connections to Ember, her steadfastness in spite of all the on the surface evidnce. the back up characters too were people i could like and I think have the ability to carry their own storeis in further novels (maybe they already have? I haven't yet looked to see what else the author has written)
When i want a romnance i don't want a romance lite - the sweet fluffy M&B type of the 70's ( i think they'ce eveolved since then but that stereotype still exists), what i want is a story to get lost in, one that makes me laugh and cry, some true love but mixed with problems and angst - escapism from the real world but real enough that i feel the tale and the people could be real. I got all that and more here
