Beautifully Broken by Laura Lee
5 star review
I loved Beautifully Broken by Laura Lee. I was hooked from the very first page and the characters captured my heart, broke it and then put it back together again! One of my favourite books is Slammed by Colleen Hoover so when I read the synopsis for this book I knew I was going to enjoy it – and I definitely did!
Beautifully Broken is Kat’s story and that is exactly how she views herself – broken! She had a pretty traumatic childhood, going from foster home to foster home, with spending time with her heroin addict mother in between. When Kat turns 18 she finds herself celebrating her birthday alone – until she meets Gavin. They instantly connect and spend the night together but she knew from the moment that they met that he would ruin her. He was confident, sensual, intelligent and worldly but it was how Gavin saved Kat that ruined her. He helped her to end her path of self-destruction; she no longer felt the need to numb her pain with mindless one night stands and drunken blackouts. She will always have Gavin to thank for saving her and helping her become the woman she is today.
I found myself completely wrapped up in the relationship between Kat and Gavin and the struggle they had with wanting each other but having to be apart. I know a relationship between a student and a teacher is morally wrong but when they first connected Gavin didn’t know how old Kat was or that she was a student. There was an instant connection between the two and the chemistry was impossible to deny. I really felt for Kat she had such an awful upbringing and found herself in some very distressing situations that she just wanted the kind of love and relationship that Gavin was offering.

Kat is broken, she has had a tough life from being put into the foster care system after her dead-beat mum chose drugs over the love of her daughter, to being raped. Having been brought up around drugs she has a big issue with it so uses sex as her drug of choice. On the night of her eighteenth birthday she takes her fake ID and goes to celebrate being an adult and free for everything. It’s this night she meets ‘sparkles’ the man that will fix all her broken pieces that keep on breaking back together. Or will he just make it worse?

Gavin has just moved across states to get away from his ex-wife who broke his heart in two, so he took the first teaching job that he was offered. He walks into a seedy bar one night and is mesmerised by ‘Red’ a breath-taking woman who has hurt and mystery in her eyes.

Can two people fix each other when the world is pushing them apart or can they fight for what they feel and want?

Beautifully Broken is an amazing story that covers lies, secrets, lust, love and a whole world of pain, but gives you hope that when life gives you lemons, you should grab the tequila and enjoy the ride.

Laura Lee has written a beautiful book here that grips you from the first word to the last, before you realise it a day has gone, and you have been on and amazing journey. She has produced two characters that make you laugh, cry, scream and cheer. You will never want the book to end.

Beautifully broken by Laura Lee is for me a 5 star read but I'd definitely give it a lot more if I could.
Kat Kennedy is finally 18 years old and after years of being in and out of foster care she is now an adult and doesn't have to be moved around anymore when her mother messes up. Kat’s mother is a heroin addict and she prostitutes herself to pay for her drugs and has spent time in jail it was during one of these times that Kat’s biggest nightmare came true, now at 18 her life is about to change for the better,a meeting with a handsome man, in a bar,who makes her feel safe for the first time in a long time. Starting her senior year of high school she has plans to get a scholarship to a college to get her out of her small town, but turning up to one of her classes she sees the man from the bar is her teacher trying desperately to stay away from him proves difficult, when he becomes her shoulder to lean on in really hard times she knows she wants better for her life.
Gavin Cooper spots Kat in a bar and as she tries to pick him up he finds he wants to get to know her more but when the relationship threatens his career he has to decide if it's all worth it.
This was an amazing story,Kat had emotional problems a mile wide but Gavin saw through her facade and showed her that she was better than her past and her family situation he showed her what it meant to be loved. This was the first book by this author that I've read and I would highly recommend this book.

Kat wow she's been through a lot her past is haunting her she don't talk about it and hasn't told anyone the full horrific event to anyone well until she meets Gavin he changes her way of living. Kat normal way of life now is to be on guard and don't let any man in she just in to causal hook ups it's her way of coping there’s no names no expectations just sex again until she meets Gavin. Wow when Kat and Gavin get together for the first time Kat is in shock with the feelings causing through her but she shuts it's down even though Gavin said he don't normally do this and he want more she just can't allow him in, she scared that shes to broken to be loved but Gavin is very persistent he fights but when Kat finally gives in but what happens when lies come to the surface even though they weren't made to hurt anyone but can they survive it…..
Wow I absolutely loved this book I couldn't put the book down truly hooked I cried and laughed the storyline keeps giving and you can't help but be pulled in.
