I wasn't sure about this book when I first started to read it because it was slow moving and at times confusing, I think it was needed now though to get you into the book and see what brought you to Nicki meeting Sean. I think this could have been added to if I was honest but it did work well.
After the first chapter I really started getting into the book and found myself wanting to read more. Both Nicki and Sean both have issues that they have never worked through and because of this both fear commitment.
I liked the way they both came together for the sake of Sona, even if Nicki is married to him in the eyes of the law to help Sean get custody of Sona they both know she is only the nanny to help him to converse and understand what Sona is saying, because Sean doesn't speak her language where Nicki does.
It's a beautiful love story of two people scared of their own feelings and both dealing with them in a different way rather than tell each other what is wrong with them from their past.
Sean and Nicki help each other with Sona and Nicki teaches him how to understand her. You laugh and cry during this book wanting to shake them and tell them to just open up to each other and explain why they can't be loved or give love because of how they are broken. But Nicki thinks if she gets another job as she agreed with Sean at the beginning she can move on and keep her heart in one piece.
I would recommend this book to anyone that likes a love story that's true love and heartache at its best, it's not full of sex and violence which makes a pleasant surprise these days, it was a great book.
I liked the book to begin with. I thought it was interesting and it sounded believable. I also liked the fact that Nicki was the one to suggest he marry her. However she was thinking about Sona (the child) and not about having a comfortable life with Sean who she felt attracted too.
As the story progressed I didn't really feel the attraction as I did at the beginning, I don't know why. I also thought it dragged a bit. The best character in this book I thought is Sona.
There is no violence or bad language. There was no sex scenes however there was sexual tension. Their desire is not explicit, I thought it is more mild.
I thought it was a bit slow in parts and would have liked to know more about her earlier life and more about his family.
But it was a very nice read.
I received a copy of this book from ebook discovery. I voluntary review this book. This is my honest review.
Baby Sona’s, an orphaned infant in war-torn Kyrcznovia, wellbeing is the driving force that brings Sean and Nicki together. Without Nicki, Sean can’t adopt Sona and Nicki happens to be in need of immediate employment so she offers her services to Sean. This seems like a good plan, however neither considered the emotional toll this might take on both of them.
This plot is well paced and realistic. The chemistry between Sean and Nicki is smoldering, a fire neither one of them allows to take flame. I felt for both, not knowing the past that led them to their decisions to stay apart. Their journey is heart-wrenching as they must face the past that has brought them to this point in their lives. Ms. Fasano has a way of exposing the human condition of relationships like no other romance author I have ever read. She is able to rip open emotional scars and apply a soothing salve that brings forth healing.
“A Beautiful Stranger” is a captivating story that will grab your heart. Baby Sona is perfectly captured as a loving eighteen-month old. Babies are amazing at that age as they learn and explore their world. Sean’s experiences as a new father are priceless and perfectly captured. Nicki is able to offer a wise influence in both of their lives. Sean and Nicki’s rapport will heat your loins while managing to remain in the clean wholesome genre. I like my romances with a bit of spice, however Ms. Fasano managed to not disappoint me with her wordsmith magic. Well done, ma’am. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog.
