SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY (film)

That's what this book reminded me of at first, Laura's husband was sick and twisted he blackmailed Laura into marrying him using her mothers illness and medical bills to get what he wanted, he then tried to change her into his dead wife with surgery and hair colour taking away the Laura she was and changing her into Gwendolyn & for 10 years kept her away from her family until she called her brother for help.

Laura had to fake her own death and with the help of her brother went to live with Bowie one of the savage outlaws which is when she became Shay.

What her brother doesn't know is since they shared time in the forces and spoke all about his sister Bowie already had feelings for her.

I read the blurb for this book and just knew I had to read it but since I'd forgotten to make a note of the title or author it took me awhile to find it again.
At eighteen years of age Laura marries a man in his forties, a man who calls her Gwendolyn, the name of his first wife and over the next ten miserable years she's moulded into the woman he wants her to be, makeup, clothes, hair, brown contacts to cover her blue eyes and of course the six surgeries, she's little more than a life sized doll for him to play with and she can't take it anymore, she's suffered all this to protect her family but now she has to protect herself.
Her brother sends her to the only place he believes she will be safe, to his best friend Bowie, VP of the Savage Outlaws MC and so Laura, who was Gwendolyn now becomes Shay.
Like I said I loved the blurb but once I started reading it seemed a little silly if I'm being honest but I continued on and for the most part I enjoyed it.
I don't know if its because I read so many MC books but this seemed a bit predictable at times but I liked it enough that I'll be reading 'Heart of an Outlaw' next.
Like the reviews say the epilogues are fabulous and ensured that I do in fact continue on.

Well I found this book through the teasers and the chat about its release on FB, I was excited to read it when it arrived and as this is Emily's first MC book on her own here's what I thought:-
The story is about a girl called Laura who's supporting her mother and a guy called Marcus who's lost his wife and in need of a replacement, So she finds her dad is about to loss his job so she agrees to marry him to support her family, she finds out Marcus is not what he seems and wants to transform her into his old wife.
She has to seek help from her brother and he gets help from his friend who is in a MC, Bowie is a rugged, hard man and I felt he was going to be a real rough biker but as I read on I started to feel this book didn't feel like a MC book at all, I feel him and shay (Laura) as she had to change her name, was rushed felt like the story was lacking and I was slowly losing interest, I wanted more from Bowie and the MC to make it a wow read and more from Marcus it was just a average read and there was a few edit issues but that didn't affect the story but I just felt it needed more that's my thought on the story and the ending of the book was a nice touch and gets you to want to know what happen to the woman. yes I will read the next book as tin-man sounds like he will be fun and I hope there's more grit and rawness to it. Apart from that it's worth a read so you can make up your OWN mind thanks M

4 OMG THE EPILOGUE STARS!!

This was a really good start to an MC series that will evolve beautifully I think. Shay and Bowie have a fast paced story. He is asked to protect her by her brother Jeremy (Lock) after her abusive marriage collapses. Lock and Bowie were in the military together and despite now leading very different lives , they maintain a strong bond. The inevitable attraction flares between Bowie and Shay and they have some seriously HOT moments together. Add into this all the crazy stuff going on around them and you have yourself an addictive book.

So why not 5 stars? I found Bowie was changing his mind about Shay a lot at the start of the story (although it was mainly his inner monologue) and also, I felt their relationship was super fast to start. Also there were quite a few editing issues but that is just my own hang up!

The story is told in both the H/h pov. The chapters are quite short and snappy at times which I liked. Each chapter is titled rather than numbered which was quite quirky. There are some heart pounding passionate scenes. Lots of swearing and violence as per the genre of the MC book. Lots of Alpha males staking claims, Club Whores causing trouble and some really off the walls crazy going down. I loved it!
There is no cliffhanger in the romantic sense but you are guided into the next character's story by the epilogue. And crikey...that was an epilogue that tipped the warm and fuzzies I was feeling straight out the window.
So , excellent ending, good cast and the promise of far more to come. Highly recommend.

WOW! I love Emily Minton and her MC series. I was looking for a hot alpha male with a sensitive side and that is exactly what I found in Beautiful Outlaw.

The characters are real. They are people who have had tough lives and are wanting to find more. Laura, aka Shay, is so broken that I am amazed that she can even function without being told what to do. Bowie is strong and self reliant, but really needs a woman he can trust and be with. The whores that come to the club are not the lifestyle he really wants, he just doesn’t know it until he meets Shay. As these two are forced to work together to keep Shay safe, the sparks start to fly and the passion grows. The secondary characters were just as wonderful. I am invested in Tag finding his happy everyafter, in Jeremy finding Heather, and of course in Tin finding his Old Lady.

Emily Minton writes a book that pulled me in from the first page and didn’t let go until I turned the very last page. This biker book has a great plot with lots of storylines. I cannot wait for more of the characters. I want to know what happen to everyone else and of course find out about Shay and Bowies happy ever after.

I definitely recommend this book and Emily Minton to anyone looking for a steamy hot story.
