Some of the best books are written for children. Some of my favourite books are among those classed as children's books. It has been a while since I read a children's book, so I thought I would read the oddly titled Beau Garnie and the Invisimin Mine by Jacqueline Beard. One of the main things I liked about her book is that it seemed clear to me that she enjoyed writing it, which is a good thing for a reader to note. I liked the strange world she created in her story. It seemed to me that she had found an odd world, had studied it under a powerful magnifying glass, and had written down what she had heard and observed. There are familiar beings in her tale, such as dwarves and enchantresses, but I was intrigued by the new ones she created herself, like Seeblings who ride about on the backs of hares and bone headed creatures called grunts. The magical world she has created on the page is ruled by magical rules and laws. One of the things I liked about her book is its front cover, which is decorated by a fine illustration, I think. I enjoyed reading her strange and magical story, and I think anyone who likes a good tale well told would, too.

What a brilliant book. Full of imagination and creating a whole new world to immerse myself in. I really enjoyed it and would love to see a second book in the series!
