Product description
-- What could we do when our knives or tools are dull or even chipped?
-- Don't worry, BearMoo professional sharpening stones can help you solve this problem.
400 Grit Side:
This grit is an in between grit. It well suited mainly as a grit to use after a coarser grit and prior to a finer grit. It sharpens more slowly than coarser grits but does not leave as refined of an edge as the finer grits.
1000 Grit Side:
This grit is a very good overall grit. It is fine enough for many jobs and still have enough abrasive properties to do sharpen knives and tools that are not very dull. If you keep your knives and tools in good shape, you'll find yourself reaching for this grit level often. This grit is also very common for the final stage for many kitchen knives .
Instructions to use:
1. Soak the sharpening stone with water for 5 minutes, then put it on a steady surface such as a table or a desk.
2. First use the #400 grit side for rough grinding in 10~30 degree angle, push the knife with a little force, and then gently retracted. This process takes about 15 minutes.
3. Then use the #1000 grit side for fine grinding. This process takes about 10 minutes.
4. After sharpening the knife, clean the knife with wet cloth or water, then dry it.
5. Use a soft brush to clean the sharpening stone, then placed in a ventilated place out to dry.
Attention:
1. Do not only use the middle of the sharpening stone, please make full use of the surface of the whetstone.
2. Do not use whetstone to sharpen serrated blades and ceramic knife.

The item was well packaged and arrived promptly using the amazon prime service.
I watched a few videos first to get an idea on how to use it, it's quite easy to set up.
I went for this version due to its popularity for basic use, I only needed to sharpen a large woodland knife but with the possibility of some smaller more detailed knives in the future.
This stone only requires a little bit soaking before use and you can see the bubbles coming out of it, when the bubbles stop about 5-10 minutes the block is ready to use.
It comes with a rubber foot which was very useful to keep the block still when in use, I started with the higher grit side and practiced on my knife.
The stone does make a difference, by using a black marker I drew on the blade and this helped me see the grind form. The only problem I have is keeping the angle correct on the knife when sharpening, this caused me to roll the blade edge. This wasn't a fault of the stone just down to me learning, eventually I got a decent but not razor sharp edge. The knife I have if for splitting wood not detail use so this was enough for me at present.
The stone was cost effective and I'm sure I will purchase another one in the future, perhaps a finer grit version for a sharper finish.
Also I have been told a strop is advised, something I will try soon.
I would recommend this item.

I would recommend this item.
Good quality stone, didn't have any cracks or dents and didn't fall apart when sharpening.
Rubber base works well with a damp towel.
Good value for money compared to other stones.
Managed to get my knife razor sharp, however this is generally a matter of individual skill and not the stone.
Good grit combination.
Con's:
Wears away quite fast, this is expected at this price, I estimate you would go 25-30 times before wanting to replace the stone and wearing it through, perhaps less depending on your technique and blade sharpness.
Instruction manual could give some tips on sharpening.
Rubber base could be thicker so that it doesn't move as much, I found that when on a plastic kitchen surface it would move in the direction of my sharpening unless there was a towel underneath to give it extra grip.

Total newbie to using a whetstone. Quick look on google... 30 min later and my global chef knife is back to its best.
The 400 is brilliant at taking the dinks and small faults out of the edge. Then the 1000 sharpens it further.
Now debating getting the 3000 /8000...
