Give your baby the healthiest start to life with these biodegradable nappies, one of Beaming Baby's certified organic, award-winning and environmentally friendly baby essentials products.
Chemical free and gently infused with chamomile, Beaming Baby nappies protect and sooth sensitive skin, making them ideal for babies suffering from nappy rash, eczema or asthma. The naturally breathable inner layer and absorbent core keep your baby dry for up to 12 hours. The soft, stretchy panels provide added protection from leaks and increased comfort, day and night. The Velcro-style fasteners are designed to be strong enough for re-fastening and soft and smooth if they come into contact with your baby's sensitive skin.
In addition to reducing the chemicals your baby comes into contact with, Beaming Baby nappies provide an environmentally friendly, compostable product that is over 65% biodegradable that can break down within four years. The packaging, outer sheet, and absorbent inner layer are biodegradable, chlorine free, and contain only clean plastics in the Velcro-style fastener and elasticated back and side panels.
Beaming Baby nappies comprise three layers. First, the outer layer made from breathable cotton and cornstarch. Second, the middle, absorbent layer made up of fluff--finely diced paper with the consistency of cotton wool--and tiny balls of gel (20% cornstarch gel, 20% standard gel). Third, the inner, double layer made from cornstarch and breathable, soft, finely woven cotton. Its layers absorb wetness and hold the diced paper fluff.
Wood pulp from sustainable forests. GM free absorbant core. Cotton mix outer cover and inner sheet.See all Product description

I have to admit, we have had quite a few poonamis but I think it's coz her nappy is getting a bit small for her now (she's still within the recommended weigh range though). But we still love the nappies coz it stays very dry and she still has a very smooth and beautiful bottom.
During day time, I only have to change her wet nappies every 4 hrs or so and she's never leaked pee even during night time and she sleeps almost 12 hrs (she wakes up for a dream feed at the early hours in the morning).
I was given a nappy cake from friends before and it comes with some big P brand nappies. I wanted to use them up and don't want to waste them. I took one out and find it rather thin to the touch. Put it on her and left it on for the usual 3/4 hrs and I can smell pee!! Then when I went to change her, I find her skin a little bit pink already from using this nappy once! I think I'm never going to change to another disposable nappy brand. They do cost a little bit more but provided I've never had to buy nappy rash cream and I don't have to change her so often (usually about 4 a day now that she's 4 months old) I think it's not that much more expensive considering it's better for her skin with less chemicals and better for the environment.
- Bio Baby nappies have little pictures all over the nappy and not just a logo on the front
- Bio Baby nappies are sort of scented, which is a bit disconcerting at first, but you get used to it!
I chose to ease my conscience by going for biodegradable nappies, nappy bags etc. over washable nappies because my washing machine is so ancient that I think I would increase my carbon footprint by having it running every day to wash nappies as well as everything else. The Beaming Baby nappies are indistinguishable performance-wise from the Bio Baby ones, so I just go for whichever is cheapest at the time of placing an order (always buying in bulk). Biodegradable nappies are more expensive than the mainstream brands, but for me it's worth it.
The nappies seem very comfortable and don't have the chemical/plastic smell that mainstream non-biodegradable nappies have. My son has not suffered from nappy rash at all and I have not experienced leakage other than the odd all-the-way-up-the-back, full-change-of-clothes-needed apoocalypse that everyone with a young baby will be familiar with - no nappy could cope with those! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these.
We use them with the biodegradable bags or compost bags and wipes.
We looked into using cloth nappies but with a refluxy baby there is no time to wash nappies and all the changes of clothes as well. These seemed like the most eco friendly alternative.
