I loved the first Bayside record and was amazed it did not recieve more acclaim. The songs were incredibly catchy and the lead singer Anthony has a really indvidual voice which lends itself really well to the overall style of the band. The guitar work is great and there are brilliant solos in two or three of the songs. I cannot compare Bayside to any other bands as they have a very individual style but I am sure that if you enjoy rock music in some form then you find something to like in this record.

I really like this album. When I bought it I was underwhelmed and dismissed this band as average, then my younger sister was singing songs from this album and I was like "hey, whats that?" and she was like "erm... bayside...your cd" and I was strangely intruiged, so I gave them another listen and I have loved the album ever since.

Best tracks in my opinion are 'blame it on bad luck' 'devotion and desire' and I personally really like 'montauk' and 'tortures of the damned' only slow tracks on the album are the last two and they do grow on you over time..

going to see them in two weeks so fingers crossed that they are as good live! Buy this album, and sirens and condolences, the two albums are both fantastic!

I have absolutely no idea why Bayside aren't more popular. It's a mystery.
This was the first of their records that I found and I fell in love with it instantly; it was everything I'd ever wanted in music. Catchy, poisonous lyrics that are moulded around music so upbeat that it takes a couple of listens before you hear the bitterness in most of the tracks.
The whole band are incredibly talented and I think there's something anyone and everyone can get out of them. They deserve more recognition so I would definitely recommend this.

I cannot say enough good about this album. As others have said I'm amazed (yet pleased) that they aren't much, much bigger. This recording hasn't got the commercial compressed polish that you typically get with big label studio efforts, but has hooks to rival bands that are far more popular. Bayside have a sound of their own - there's elements of more mellow Thrice tracks, Thursday and Far but on the whole Bayside are unique. A quality band with a magnificent sound.

Yea wow!

I first heard Bayside on a Victory Records CD that came with Rock Sound recently.

I instantly gave 'Existing In A Crisis' the title...Catchiest song in the world!

Although the albums lyrics may not always be so happy, the music is awesome, and it WILL get firmly stuck in your head. The singer has a great voice, and the music is just good overall.

And thats all I need to say. Go buy it.
