If you're a fan of reggae, then 10ft ganja plant are worth a look. Tunes are packed to the max with great drums, basslines, guitar and electronic licks.. and the odd throw-in of singing too.

The album is a great starting point for checking out this band, the first three tracks (blood money, Engine Trouble, Last dance) killing it from the go. Other highlights i'd pick out are 'To Each' and 'Deliver us Jah'.

10ft are no gimmick, despite their obviously tounge in cheek name, and when it comes down to it they deliver some awesome dub-infused roots reggae. Good for late night relaxation or for some summery tunes in the car!

HASH(0x8eb915ac) out of 5 stars Another Solid Album 7 April 2006
By Burnin' and Lootin' - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Bass Chalice is yet another really solid album from a group that I think deserves more attention. If you like their first two albums then you definitely need to pick this one up. Bass Chalice, for the most part, holds true to form to their 70's roots style with modern touches that make this group so great to listen to. That being said, I feel that this album is more modern sounding than the other two. They have added some horns into the mix (ie. "Suits and Ski Masks") that add a jazzier feel as well as losing a bit of that really rootsy studio sound that they have captured so well in the past. The first track "Blood Money" has stood out as the best track for me and creates an almost impossible standard for the rest of the disk to live up to. I agree with the last review that not every track is strong although still a must-have if you are a fan. I can't wait until they go on tour.

HASH(0x8eb569f0) out of 5 stars Pretty Irie 28 Feb. 2006

Bass Chalice is, in my opinon, 10ft ganja plants best album I was disappointed in Midnight landing, very pleased with hillside airstrip, but bas chalice has to top them with out a doubt. Like its title bass chalice as some very original and enjoyable bass lines. "blood money" is a great song with a very cool bass line and doesnt go on for to long the same goes for "bass chalice" which has an uplifteing beat and finishes the cd perfecttly. the reason it doesnt get a 5 is because not every song is all that great. Overall If you are a roots fan and treasure well written bass lines bass chalice should be in your roots reggae collection

HASH(0x8f36d300) out of 5 stars Good album but not their best work 21 Aug. 2013
By StevieWraithVaughan - Published on Amazon.com
Another solid album by 10FT GP. They are a really impressive group and I can literally play any album by them and whether I am really into it or not it can play in the background w/out any need to change or avoid a single song.

This album isn't their strongest work, personally I think hillside is their best. Whoever said midnight landing wasn't very good, I completely disagree, It is similar to hillside and completely badass. Highly recommend that album or at least giving it another listen. Mercy, midnight, chanting nyabingi, wide open, hell every song is great.

Bass Chalice is a stellar album! 10 ft. goes on and on creating quality reggae. Excellence all the way through from Last Dance, a super-chilaxin melody to Swedish Prison, a rootsy soothing jam with some killer-mad sax playing. The instrumental track Engine Trouble brings it tough and lovely with smashing bass, jungle bound beats, and plenty classic reggae chop guitar to delight. Every track supplies the musical goods in heavy overly delicious warm helpings. No corny mess here, just straight up, no chaser, roots loving, guitar ripping ganja plant masterly putting it on. Buy this awesome work, and you will draw no bad card!
HASH(0x8e9676c0) out of 5 stars This is Definately One of Their Strongest 9 May 2015
By HeartJah - Published on Amazon.com
Oh my word is this good. Absolutely stunning - the focus is clearly on the musicians here, and they seem to have an innate ability to channel the very best from reggae's past and then bend it to their will - or better yet, gently massage it into it's intended form. Yes, this is kind of old-school, and that is a good thing. The vocals are totally on point though and are, at times, very nuanced with intricate timing plays and ultra-tight anomalies.

Please praise Jah and give thanks for His only begotten son - Jesus Christ, whose name literally means Jehovah is Salvation. Peace.
