HASH(0x95674690) out of 5 stars One of Klemmer's Best 5 Aug. 2004
By P. Dunlop - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Thinking back to college in the mid-1970s, I can remember listing to this album for a shot of relaxation on numerous occasions. It's a fine collection of songs...most written by Klemmer. The playing and production is superb. The backing personnel includes Dave Grusin and Larry Carlton. My biggest question is, why is this album not readily available on CD? Touch is very similar to Barefoot Ballet in sound and organization and it's easy to find. Yet Barefoot Ballet is essentially unavailable. What's up?

HASH(0x956746e4) out of 5 stars Might be better than Touch!! 2 Aug. 2008
By Ashra - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Barefoot Ballet has been and continues to be overlooked in favor of the massively popular Touch, but it might just be a better album. While it doesn't have the stoned out mellow deep late night groove of Touch, in some ways the playing is even stronger, and the songs better.

Better is a matter of personal taste, but for the most part, after Barefoot Ballet it was pretty much a quick slide into muzak and formula territory a la Kenny G (with a few exceptions like the two Nautilus records and Nexus) and now Klemmer is a freakish figure on the bingo circuit, but Barefoot Ballet is highly recommended to fans of Touch and the era of jazz in California.

HASH(0x95d352e8) out of 5 stars Barefoot Ballet 15 April 2004
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I've worn out three copies of this album. The hypnotic sax solos along with the uncluttered background music is as soothing as falling asleep in your true love's arms. Wanna kick back, relax and remember the late 70's and early 80's? This is the music that will take you down that soft and lovely memory lane!!!

HASH(0x95676228) out of 5 stars Terrific Soft Jazz 31 Oct. 2008

The albums Touch [originally released in 1974] and Barefoot Ballet [originally released in 1975] could easily have been recorded at the same time and simply released a year apart. Both comprise a mellow sax sound in the vane of John Coltrane's softer work.

Virtually all the songs from Touch and Barefoot Ballet have been woven into my long (800+ songs) Jazz playlist in iTunes. These albums, which originally appeared on the ABC label and were out of print for years, have only recently become available on CD or as digital downloads. Both offer a soothing sound that refuses to be boring.

HASH(0x961a74b0) out of 5 stars Absolute Yummiest! so...Where's my CD!?!?! 25 Jun. 2005
By Julie A. Lumine - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Listened to this many times years back on vinyl, gave up in divorce years back. Just bought sealed vinyl cutout because I can't find the CD....& I don't even HAVE a turntable at this point, just didn't want to lose this totally yummy album! Anyone got a link to John, rattle his cage to get this one out again, it's one of the top 10 I'd keep in a fire!
