An excellent review which showed both Barbara's intellect and politcal awareness and how the two were interwoven to form an unusually influential life.As an Oxford graduate she used her technical grasp of economics and her theologically grounded education to analyse the post war situation and investment requirements needed for positive investment and growth
Also a clear statement of the very human use/interconnection of wealth/influence. She knew influential people and discussed her theories with them in detail. An acumen which grew with experience, leading her to become the confidant of US Presidents and advisors and of Prime Ministers and their Cabinets.
A good insight into the ethics of an almost bygone age and the need for active Christian engagement with society today.

The first major study of the immensely influential political economist Barbara Ward, drawing heavily on her own writings. Barbara Ward was one of the world's most outstanding writers and speakers on environment and development issues. She was a pioneer of the international movement which led from resource scarcity and protecting the environment to climate change and planetary survival. 'Our visionary perspective is the true realism - and that is what we must pursue', she wrote. A close ally and confidant of world politicians such as Willy Brandt, Robert McNamara, and JFK, this book brings all Ward's genius and qualities to life - her eloquence, her intellect, her charm and her unique ability to analyse the challenges of development in the contemporary world.
