'Baywatch' star Pamela Anderson is the tough, glamorous heroine of this action/sci-fi adventure set in early 21st century, civil war-torn America. She's ruthless and independent, and no man can have her...
Remember the old days, when Pamela Anderson was still just a Playboy Playmate turned Baywatch babe? You know--back before the bootleg release of her infamous home video with then-husband and ne'er-do-well rocker Tommy Lee, at which time the whole world got to compare Pam's barely adequate acting chops with her formidable skill at fellatio? Yes, those were the days (1996, to be exact), when a movie like Barb Wire represented dubious progress for the busty blonde, who was determined to make as big a splash on the big-screen as she did in the world's most popular syndicated TV series. Set in the year 2017 when the Second Civil War is in full force, this sci-fi action thriller stars Pam in the title role--a leather-clad biker babe ("don't call me babe," she warns) who runs a nightclub in the last free city in America. The rest of country is controlled by the "Congressional Directorate," a dictatorial superpower which suspects Barb of trafficking in black-market contraband. That gets her into plenty of trouble (and a lot of cleavage-revealing costumes), and ... well, if any of this sounds even vaguely familiar, it's because this comic book-inspired movie is really just a shamelessly breast-enhanced variation on Casablanca, with Pam Anderson in the Bogart role. Taken for what it is, it's a brazen folly with action to spare, and as guilty pleasures go it's surprisingly enjoyable. What--you were expecting Oscar material? --Jeff Shannon

Pamela Anderson wanted to act really tough in this flim and her role job is to be a secret agent like James Bond.
If you like girls who can ride a motorbike and wear a small black leather vest and punish people like the Punisher then this is for you.
This is a crime flim with the hotty Pamela Anderson which all the cast here is attractioned to her big breasts but again who wouldn't?
On the whole, I agree with Edward Gorey that the movies went to hell around the time of 'The Jazz Singer'. We've gone from Mary Pickford to Madonna in just about - how long? Still, good and bad and dull and ponderous and pretentious movies keep on being made, and I enjoyed this in much the same way as I do 'Robocop' or 'The Terminator'. It's superior comic-book stuff, fairly predictable, but with never a dull moment.
I did not expect much from the film, you get what you imagine you get when you look at the cover. Pamela Anderson (Lee) in a tight black leather outfit or some other sexy dress parading throughout the movie acting tough.
The quotes in here are all bad-ass and some characters are right up there with stereotype designs.
I got my dose of wet topless Pamela swinging on a swing and the two second full nudity scene in the middle and enough laughs in the bad acting and ridiculous plot.
It is a cult classic. A C-level wanna be future action for the ages.
But I was fairly disappointed with the extra material on blu-ray or better say complete lack of it. There is movie, scene selections and subtitles, that's it.
Not even trailer, bloopers, behind the scenes, director's commentary. I was expecting a lot more from such 'great' film. But I can not complain because of the price.
I recommend it to you, if you are a huge Pamela Anderson fan. But if you want something extra, this is not for you.
After the start, your board of seeing them and the week story make it hard to keep watching.
Barb gets a bit of an awakening when an old friend comes by and puts her faith back into mankind.
This is a stylish movie, very dark at all times (lighting and temprement), and has a dark sense of humour. Pamela Anderson Lee isn't bad in this, but at times she's a bit wooden. I think she loved this role because she could dress up in tight leather clothes and prance around with a gun; but when the more serious parts come along she does seem to struggle.
The storyline is very predictable, but it's not really that serious as movies go. This is one of those you can just watch without analysing it; it's got no sublime sub-plot or anything exciting, it's just straight fighting - and it's entertaining up to a point. I thought the scenes in the bar were dragged out, but otherwise it's an alright film.
Would rent rather than buy though, it's got no real elastic appeal.
