Format: Audio CD
This album is eighteen minutes of adrenaline fulled garage rock and it is brilliant. From the first ear shattering blast of You Gonna Get It, to the final 40 second track Goodnite, Goodbye, I just can't help but sing/scream along to this. The sound is rough, raw and enormous considering only guitars, drums and keyboard were used, and the vocals were allegedly recorded using a microphone taken out of a telephone. If you want something a little different to make you day go off with a bang this is it.
Finally don't let the fact its short put you off, there is also a twenty minute live concert video hidden on the CD, and anyway when you get to the end you just just need to press play again.

This is an album of solid garage rock played faster, louder and harder than you'd ever have thought possible. Each and every track - with the exception of the closer - whistles past in a top-speed, high-octane flurry. The music is a churning soup of guitar, keyboard and distorted vocals peppered with crisp, crunchy drum croutons. Delicious.

Some might baulk at the record's brevity - you get change back from 20 minutes - but the quality should not be doubted. There is an enhanced section for those who quibble about value for money, but the album proper is so addictive that back-to-back listens become almost inevitable.

The short sharp shock tactics make picking out a highlight almost futile, but tracks such as 'Extinguish Me' and 'Thee Alarm' set out the Coachwhips manifesto with admirable gusto as they stomp, shimmy and shake into your ears. This is a must-have item for rock 'n' rollers, punks or anyone who needs a little something to blow away the cobwebs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Captures the Rawness 10 Jan. 2008
By Arvo - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Sped up, distorted, lo-fi interpretations of the 50's Rock N' Roll Formula with crappy children's keyboard to boot. Coachwhips capture the necessary rawness and reckless abandon while it's quite likely that they inadvertantly reinvent the wheel. So many bands seem to deviate too much and come off ineffectual. Not on this record. Both the Ramones and Ray Charles would probably be dancing in their graves if they heard this.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's different...that's for sure 28 April 2004
By Matt Williams - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
OK, these guys sound pretty cool...but they will only appeal to certain people. I'd have to say they are like a harder The Network maybe, with a little bit of Swing. They have the same synthesizer stuff going on as Horse the Band or An Albatross..the singing is good but you can't understand it due to the voice changer the singer uses. Overall, a pretty good cd..Also have a slight bit of Jet in them which is kinda cool..pick this up if you are pretty open-minded and like The Network.
