I own a few of the Bose headphones - QC20, QC25, QC30 and QC35's. I regularly use the QC25's on my PC and, as they were going faulty, I wanted a replacement. I decided upon these as they seemed to be better constructed than the Bose and that is definitely going to be your first impression - they are obviously heavier, but that is due to better construction and better materials. The Bose are very plastic heavy, whereas these use aluminium. Thick leather adorns the headband with leather earpads which are soft comfortable. They also should fit most people unless you have ears that put Dumbo to shame.
Connecting these to a phone and you will probably be informed of a firmware update - definitely ensure this is done!
Connecting to my PC, I could either use Bluetooth, 3.5mm jack or even use a USB cable to connect and listen. The first thing that struck me is how much louder these sound at the same sound levels as the Bose - MUCH louder (clearly, these go to 11). The second thing is the sound is great, with a much heavier bass level than the Bose.
Music is definitely enjoyable on these - either via PC/Cable or Phone/Bluetooth. I tend to use the controls on the right ear to either cancel the noise cancellation (rare) or to allow myself to hear the outside world without removing the headset (more useful on planes etc).
Battery life is decent and included (rechargable via USB) and replaceable if needed. Earpads are also replaceable so the parts that generally go can be replaced and you're not left with an expensive item that you can't use.
The only criticism is no storage case included, unlike the Bose, but they are available reasonably cheaply. But for a £400 ish piece of kit, kinda should be included.

I've been listening to music on many many systems for over 40 years, I've owned my own recording studio and engineered, produced and mastered countless tracks.
My goto headphones for the last ten years or more have been Sennheiser DT-770 Pro, they're good workmanlike devices, bass can be 'robust', but a good all round closed monitoring set.
The H9i however show them a clean set of heels when it comes to detailed sound and lively dynamics.
I had expected the noise cancelling to create a negative aspect for the sound but has turned out to be both aurally neutral and more than effective.
If you need heavy bass these are not the phones for you, but if you need comfortable (for long periods) and something that reproduces the life in your tracks, these are for you.
Build quality is good, controls are not as positive as I like, touch controls work better when you can see them I think.
I prefer a positive click when I select an action, however I'm used to it now and it's not a big issue.
Replaceable battery is brilliant, one bugbear reduced at least, other manufacturers take note !
3.5mm input is great for my low latency needs when producing, full marks.
Bluetooth rarely drops and connects quickly.
Ear pads are replaceable also, again full marks.
I had some issues with random disconnections, that turned out to be the auto-mute function mis-triggering, so I disabled that and all is good.
They didn't really make much sense at the original price point, but at the new(er) sub £300 price they hit the mark bang on the nail.
Keepers.

The B&O H9i headphones, linked to my iPhone sound excellent. As part of my ongoing project to get rid of Micro and USB-a I like that they charge by USB-C. The out of the box sound is lively and after a few hours of use only got better. The B&O iPhone app lets you tune the sound to suit your tastes or situation; so you can dial up the bass a bit if you are using the noise cancelling for example.
Sat at my desk the H9i's noise cancelling got rid of the sounds of the office and let me concentrate; they aren't as good as Bose 35s' in that you can still hear the office going on with the NC turned on; but turn on some music and its gone. Sat at my desk though the headphones randomly cut in and out from my phone; losing their bluetooth connection. Walking around it feels like you can hear your footsteps in the headphones as each step seems to be greeted with a clicking sound in the headphones. Walking around the headphones also seem to randomly pause from time to time without any contact to their touch surface. I don't understand either why when you turn them on you have to wait; what feels an eternity for the little light to turn off before putting them on; it is dumb as the music starts before the light goes off - so if you are listening to a book or podcast the first thing you need to do is roll back 15 seconds. If you dont wait for the yellow light to go off the disconnections from the headphones get worse randomly think you have taken them off.
I used them at home, commuting and whilst at work for a few weeks before going away at easter. On the planes the noise cancelling worked just fine; though it wasn't as good on a propellor flight as a jet flight; which they have in common with Bose and B&W's headphones. The battery life held up to two 15 hour flights without running out - though I took them off whilst sleeping. The disaster of using them when you travel manifests when you fold the H9is flat and slip Into the included soft bag. Putting this into my carry out its immediately clear this design takes up far too much space in your bag - and despite them being in a soft case in reality they need more room than the QC35s; and short of wearing them all the time they occupy a lot of space in a small bag. Bose and Sony's collapsing head brackets release a lot of space; and their included hard cases give them some protection.
The poor travel space experience and the random disconnections and other control annoyances all add up to a bad experience - though in the office they sound great.

The most comfortable headphones with great sound. Fits my large head. I bought the h7 earpads as they are twice the thickness of the h9i. Makes them even more comfortable.
UPDATE I'm afraid I am considerably reducing the rating as I am experiencing a thumping /crashing noise when walking so I returned them to b&o under warranty. That took 3 weeks to arrange and now they are saying that there isn't a problem and have returned them back to me.
For a Premier company this just isn't good enough and after buying a couple of b&o products I won't be buying anymore. And these will be returned straight back to them.
Avoid.
