I bought this to be used with ASUS Maximus VII Impact (Z97 chipset) and it detected correctly on its first boot which makes things easier. The slim profile is nice too especially since I was building mini-ITX and space is really expensive commodity!

I am not a overclocker so I cannot comment on its overclocking ability. But since it operates on 1.5V I am sure there is plenty of headroom for overclocking as long as one has adequate cooling set-up.

Lower power consumption was one of the factor I was looking into so 1.5V is also a plus although one could 1.35V memories (I dont think I saw 16GB 1600MHz 1.35V though!).

After some poor experiences with brands that take largely untested RAM chips (UTT memory) from various suppliers, test them, rate them and then build modules with them, I have decided that the only brands of memory modules worth using are those who either use fully tested memory chips from their suppliers (ETT memory) or who are a closely connected to the silicon manufacturing process (as with Crucial). A key point of difference is that Crucial (and Kingston, for example) run their modules at 1.5 volts (the design voltage for the chips). Those brands that specify 1.6 or 1.65 volts for DDR3 modules are pushing the spec for the chips in order to either make them work reliably or to try to squeeze a bit more performance from them. Either way, such modules are more likely to have reliability or compatibility issues, sometimes not revealing themselves until a long time after they were installed. If curious, read a device datasheet from a memory chip manufacturer, for the correct operating parameters.

In summary - I am very pleased with these modules from Crucial. They are being used in my file server at home, and after a 48 hour test period using MEMTEST86, they are now running unRAID with a number of plugins and add-ons.

I've been buying Crucial memory for years so when my current PC needed a bit of a "pick me up" and I found these on Amazon it seemed like an obvious purchase. Memory performance can be a limiting factor in your PC so more is usually better (provided you're running a 64bit operating system). These memory modules are "middle of the road" in terms of performance - they're not lightning fast but for most people, you're unlikely to notice. What they offer is a great balance between price and performance.

Some aluminium heatsinks cover the chips, looking like they might help a little bit to manage heat on the RAM, but not all that much. BUt then these aren't super-duper RAM chips so hopefully they won't get all that hot! Installation is simple. No changes needed to my PC, it just recognised and started using the extra memory straight away.

If you're struggling along with 4Gb or 8Gb of memory and you do a lot of graphics/video intensive work this could be a great upgrade.

I used the Crucial memory utility which I downloaded from the Crucial website UK to get the exact memory to go with the 8GB module that I already had. The memory came well protected. Having removed the side panel of my desktop I made sure that I had earthed myself on a radiator before removing the memory from the plastic box it was in. I re-earthed myself to be sure that I had removed all static and simply pushed it into the next available memory slot DIMM 2. I then replaced the side panel and booted up. This stage only took a couple of minutes. Even though the bios said 16GB installed, when Windows 10 started and I looked at the system settings it was still saying only 7.5GB. To solve this go to Search window in bottom left hand corner and type in msconfig.exe and press Enter. When System Configuration Menu pops up click the Boot Tab and then click Advanced options button. If there is a tick in Maximum memory box then UNTICK it. Click OK then click APPLY. Close the window then go to Start button in bottom left corner and choose Power from the menu and click restart. When Windows 10 reboots all the memory will be available. Hopes this helps anybody else having issues with new memory added.

My HP Pavilion PC came with 8GB (2x 4GB) with Windows 8 (now upgraded to Windows 10), but I started noticing I needed more RAM for a smoother operation, so I have upgraded it.

If the memory module (RAM) that you need is: DDR3, DIMMs, 1600MHz, PC3, 12800, 204-PIN etc, and the maximum memory is 16GB, 32GB or even 64GB, then this one should be fine.

There might be 2x memory sockets or 4x or even 8x inside your PC, as long as one socket can hold up to 8GB, then this one should be fine, but if it's for 4GB, don't use this one as it's 8GB.

FYI, if your PC is a 64-bit system, normally one memory socket can hold up to 8GB, so if you have 4x sockets then you can upgrade it to up to 32GB (4x 8GB). If your PC is a 32-bit system, then probably a socket can hold up to 4GB so this RAM won't work. So check the specifications of your PC first and check the memory type that you can put in your PC.

Memory modules with high capacity aren't cheap, but they're getting much cheaper than before, and this is a famous brand Crucial, so that's good for my reassurance too.
