I've had these shorts for a few weeks now and I didn't review them before because I wanted to check over a few sessions how they held up and how they went through the wash.
Overall, I'm very happy with them - especially for the price. Firstly, they're very cheap and came very quickly. They're fairly comfortable and have certainly reduced the pain in the nether-region. However, they're likely not the most comfortable of shorts or the best padded. Essentially, you get exactly what you pay for - a cheap pair of cycling shorts that are pretty good but not exceptional.
I'd recommend them to anyone like me; someone just into and just returning to cycling who will not be doing particularly long or gruelling journeys (mine are approx 7miles each way)
They're perfect for "newbies" but would imagine a more seasoned cyclist would need a more robust set of shorts
A friend recommended this underwear and I'm very happy with my purchase. Although it does feel strange to have a spongy pad against my bottom, it does prevent saddle sore.
They are snug, comfortable and not too tight. the Padding is generous and combined with some 'bum salve', make an excellent combination for a long day in the saddle. No issues with quality, the stitching is strong, symmetrical and robust. I used them to replace a pair of padded Spandex shorts and it was a good decision, much more practical and comfortable.
I am sure that the £50+ versions from other brands are more suited to riders who spend many hours a week in the saddle, but for the causal weekend rider who will do the occasional 2-4 hour ride, these are ideal.
For the price of these, I can't recommend them highly enough.
The fabric materials are decent enough and theres padding where you need it. The problem is the padding is not dense enough. I would say is about 10mm but you can squeeze it between your fingers down to about 2mm. If it was more solid it would absorb more shocks but as it squishes down so much the bumps and shocks mostly go through them.
In summary using these with sports shorts and a gel cover that goes over my bike seat I still get a sore bum
