Not your run of the mill love story and that is not always a bad thing!
The story is harsh, it is tough and it needs to be.
The characters evoke those sort of emotions, but if you are at all like me, you will find that you are awash with feelings that are as conflicting as they are emotional.
If you are looking for a beautifully romantic love story then this is not the book for you, if you are looking for a love story that shows just how hard it is at times to get ahead then you are in love but be warned you may need a couple of bites at the cherry because this is not a book to be devoured in one sitting, some bits will force you to lay your kindle down and to give yourself a breather.
This is a story that everyone has to work at and it takes a clever author to instil that much reader participation from me, I thought I knew what I was getting in some respects but in reality I didn’t have a clue.
The author baited her hook and reeled me in!
When the book started I was taken by surprise because I was faced with Blake and I must admit that the author had given me a character that was not initially easy to either like or understand.
I was in two minds about her but after time, I felt as if she had grown on me.That is not to say that I liked her 100%, she really had me at odds with myself, I was still struggling internally because she really did get on my nerves much of the time.
But on the other hand there was Casey, well there is nothing else to say other than the fact that I loved him, honestly he was completely swoon worthy, and he stole the show for me.
But the story, well it was a whole lot of what if’s and could have been’s.Read more ›
Hmmm, this harder to review Than I thought it would be. The author? Loved her style of writing and would def read lots more by her!
The book? I just could not for the life of me really bring myself to like the lead female :( sorry, she was just such a selfish person!! Always worrying about what people say or think and the whole time she has these two guys who are so deeply in love with her. Not gonna lie - didn't like the husband.. So boring!! But I lovedddddddd Casey and yes he is as much to blame but you can genuinely feel how much he loves her..!
I'm not going to lie to you here dear readers, this book wont be for every one! If you see the world in black and white, right and wrong, truth or lie, then i doubt you'll enjoy it...having said that, i think you should read it anyway! it may enlighten you on some of the worlds less than ambiguous qualities.
Mabie has done something a tad controversial here...she's written a book about a young woman who makes a series of choices that leads her to an unfortunate situation, not one she'd planned, but one that (in my opinion) could happen to almost anyone. Blake found herself engaged to her ''safe'' fiance, a man who would always stick by her side and with whom she could willingly entrust her heart and her future. He offered her everything she thought she should want...a house, children, a career and marriage...after all, as women, that's what we're programmed to assume that we need isnt it? Until she meets Casey...the anti-safe choice. He made her heart hammer in her chest and her pants melt on the spot! he was exciting and different and everything about him screamed how precarious a relationship with him could be. Here comes the dilemma that i faced when reading Bait...what do you listen to when making your choices? your heart? your head? your libido? or a mixture of all 3? what if all 3 are pulling you in 2 different directions? two different men....would you be strong enough to walk away? or would you do as Blake did and sample the forbidden fruit?
Whatever your answer...I defy you not to be able to relate (atleast on some level) with Blake.
Bait, in my opinion, is a 'must read' it wont always be comfortable or safe...but rather like Casey, it's one hell of a ride!

This has so much promise but it's far too long and drawn out. I got bored and skipped to the end, and guess what?! It's exactly the same as the rest of the book. Read morePublished 12 months ago by J&C

The only reason this book didn't get five stars was because the grammar isn't great in parts, and I'm a terrible grammar snob. Read morePublished 17 months ago by Love and Light
