it was amazing

Read from April 05 to 06, 2016

Wow, this is good. A little different to your basic Seal/Security romance, its not a straight forward twosome there's a twist in fact more than one. You also have a bit of BDSM thrown into the mix, drug gangs as well, just to keep you on your toes. Its nice easy to follow reading, with a bit spice and edginess thrown in. Lacey is running from something and all she's looking for at first is protection, that soon gets complicated. All these characters have very deep issues that affect how they deal with relationships, its an interesting and complex story one I enjoyed. This is the first in a new series by Kendall Ryan and I very much look forward to reading more, she's never let me down weaving and creating books that you can just get lost in and enjoy. Relating to some of the issues or even all just adds to it even more, its well worth reading.

The synopsis and the prologue for this book caught my eye and being a lover of Kendall’s books and her writing, I was instantly intrigued by it and couldn’t wait to read it when it arrived on my kindle.

Nolan is an ex navy seal, emotionally detached, not believing in or wanting love, he is living his life the only way he thinks he can. He has regular hook ups with his all too willing “submissive” house mate Danielle, who he believes he is helping whilst also getting what he feels he needs.

Lacey is running, from whom or what you do not know but she has a secret she can’t and won’t tell. Meeting Nolan in a bar, she doesn’t want love she wants his protection, she needs to feel safe. Nolan gets more than he bargains for as he is captivated by Lacey despite knowing deep down that she is hiding something from him. What he doesn’t realise is that she may have a hidden agenda at that their meeting may not just be a coincidence

This is not really a love triangle as such as once Nolan meets Lacey, he no longer feels he needs the casualness and everything that goes with what Danielle can offer him. I have to admit that I struggled with this book, I couldn’t warm to Nolan at all and found his character cold and at times unappealing especially in his treatment of Danielle. You could feel the book building up to reveal Lacey’s secrets but I did find the last part felt a little rushed in its execution and I would have liked some more background into the events and how they came about but that is just my personal opinion.

Overall, this book was a quick read and included some great secondary characters especially Grey who I can’t wait to find out more about in future books in the series.

This is a great read. I wasn't too sure at the start but I'm really glad I kept reading! The hot alpha ex seal that has only been surviving life after leaving the navy meets the new girl in town and changes his life.

Bait and Switch is a pulse-pounding, suspense-laden, addictive start to an exciting new series by Kendall Ryan. This book was a scintillating blend of mystery, drama, love and romance, betrayal, confusion, and self-revelation. Consistently paced, superbly written, and with well-developed characters, I blew through this one in no time.

Nolan likes to be in control, in every aspect of his life. Having relegated love to the 'never never' pile, he is settled in his Dom relationship with sub Daniella, and he has himself convinced that he is happy. Enter the lovely Lacey and his world turns upside down.

This book has a rather unconventional love triangle that I found very intriguing and refreshing. Certainly, I haven't read anything like it before. Kendall expertly crafted the story, demonstrating the different emotions of the three players with precision and skill. I felt the maelstrom of emotions, the conflict and unease, distrust and jealousy, angst and upset.

I always love a book that combines mystery/suspense with a healthy dose of sexy times and this book delivered in spades.

I found myself feeling sympathetic toward all three of them, however, I was rooting for Lacey and Nolan the whole time. I also enjoyed Grey's character, and I look forward to reading Slow and Steady next.

The plot was fairly predictable, and it was building to a certain point, which I then felt was quite rushed in its execution.

Two main things were standout for me: Characterization, and the slow progression of the relationship between Nolan and Lacey. I loved how patient he was with her, how he let her set the pace, and how realistically it developed. It was sweet and sensual and totally captivating.

I love Kendall Ryan and her books and I thing I've read pretty much everything she wrote. So it is not a big surprise that I jumped at the chance to read this one :) Well, I can honestly say that I wasn't disappointed. The story is intriguing and suspenseful, fast paced and deep with just a sprinkle of humour and a healthy dose of hotness.

I have to be honest and say that I had some doubts about the story. From the blurb, I was kind of left with the impression that it is going to be something like a love triangle or there would be some cheating involved, and I am definitely not into that. But thankfully, nothing like that is involved. It is kind of on the border but it doesn't cross it. At least from my POV. There is some suspense involved though and some quite unexpected twists and turns that will keep you on your toes most of the time.

The characters are quite intriguing. The stories of both Lacey and Nolan are incredibly heartbreaking and emotional and I could feel their pain through every word. Especially Nolan's. I have to say that his story brought tears to my eyes on more than one occasion. So it wasn't that surprising for me that he runs from commitment like it is the plague. But once he meets Lacey, something in him changes and before he realizes it, he is already in too deep. Lacey on the other hand, is so sweet and in many ways, the complete opposite of Nolan. But somehow, they fit perfectly together.

So in a few words, this was a great read. It had everything necessary for a page turner. I mean, who can resist a hot ex navy SEAL carrying scars from his past and a sweet and strong girl that needs hero to protect her. Add to that the suspense and burn the sheets chemistry, and I am a goner :) I just can't wait for the second book in the series to come out :)
