This is a compact folding saw that does a superb job. I was initially concerned that due to the size of the blade it might be a struggle to cut anything more than an inch or so in diameter, but this brilliant little saw has tackled everything I've thrown at it. If anything, being small has made it easier to get it into tighter areas where a larger saw would be useless.

The button to open and close the saw is large enough to use when wearing gloves and is positioned nicely out of the way when in use. The handle is nicely shaped and feels light in the hand. I simply cannot recommend this saw enough for general purpose gardening use.

I've used a lot of folding saws for coppicing and hedging work. I was bought one of these as a present from a Bushcrafter! The Bahco one just keeps cutting - into the smallest gaps in a hazel coppice stump. I lost my current one and hour ago - and had to buy another immediately, it's so good.

First pruning saw I've owned and it's *much* better than a bow saw for chopping small logs. I pruned a relatively large tree back to the main trunk in no time.

Very sharp, light, easy to hold and cuts nicely. Would definitely recommend. Only 4 stars as I find the handle a touch too long for my liking (although I appreciate it needs to be to enclose the blade).

What a splendid piece of equipment this is. We use it in the garden, on the allotment and especially when out collecting fallen wood for our wood stove. It slices through branches up to six inches in no time. It's easy to carry around. The bright orange handle is easy to see amongst undergrowth, so not easily mislaid. Its one slight failing is that sometimes it doesn't fold easily. I read through a lot of reviews for similar products before choosing this one, but I'm pretty sure I made the right choice.

Although not a professional or even a keen gardener, I have in the past needed to prune some larger plants and to trim some tree branches, roots etc and bought a pruning saw for the purpose where pruning shears would not work. It was borrowed by a friend some time ago as he was impressed with its performance when I used it to remove some annoying lower branches from a tree and he wanted to try it for himself with some offending hedges of privet and other bushes before buying one of his own. So far he has not returned it and I had to purchase another as a replacement or fill-in.

The original item was of a different brand and styling and with a fixed blade, although this is clearly not. The handle employs a locking mechanism that engages when closed and when open. The blade is easily opened once disengaged. The mechanism is easy to operate, and reasonably child-safe, and should therefore be safe when in use or not. The orange handle is large enough and sufficiently bright to stand out in accidentally dropped onto soil or grass or left in among greenery. There is a small hole at the extreme end either for a hook or for a loop of string or leather to be threaded through for hanging.

The 19cm (7.5 inch) blade is long enough to cut branches of around half its length, and perhaps a little more, but a bigger saw would be needed for anything larger. It is certainly effective within its working range.

The blade is fairly stiff but does have a small amount of flexibility. The teeth are straight (in line with the blade) and appear to be sharpened on both forward and rear edges and it therefore cuts in both directions. There is no clear marking on the packaging or on the blade itself to confirm this action.

I bought this Bahco pruning saw for my son as he was going to reduce the height of a rather large fir that is in my garden. He was absolutely delighted with this saw and was able with ease to remove 2/3rds of the fir. A super piece of equipment well made and well worth the small outlay. An excellent product.

Good strong blade that cuts both ways and has positive locking mechanism. Ideal for the garden and perfect for dealing with "volunteers" for the woodburning stove whilst out walking the dog. Worth the money and I'm picky.
