Safe, effective and gentle. Badger SPF30+ baby sunscreen contains non-nano zinc oxide to protect from both UVA and UVB rays, in a base of safe, soothing USDA certified organic ingredients. It is water and sweat resistant for at least 40 minutes, biodegradable and works immediately upon application.
Badger sunscreens have been recommended by the Environmental Working Group. Packaged in a BPA- and phthalate-free, recyclable #2 plastic tube, our baby sunscreen has the mild scent of chamomile and calendula and can be used by the whole family.
Expect some whitening with full coverage of all natural zinc oxide sunscreens. The best protection from the sun is to avoid exposure during peak hours and to wear protective clothing and a hat.
For full protection, apply an ample white coat to all exposed skin, then rub in to reduce whitening effect. Some separation may occur. Knead tube before use. Reapply after swimming and sweating as needed. Children under 6 months of age, ask a doctor.Other Information: Sun alert: Limiting sun exposure, wearing protective clothing, and using sunscreens minimize health risks.See all Product Description

We applied this Badger suncream liberally twice a day and after being in the water. It was terrific, no burning AT ALL, no redness, nothing. It also stays on well through handling her and her being in the sand. Our child is a redhead so we had to be double sure and this is brilliant. I'm here again to order more because we're home to a heat wave! Absolutely recommend this.
Some of the more negative reviews stated it is difficult to apply and is very thick. When mine arrived, it had a paper label around the neck stating the consistency has now improved. I cannot say what the consistency was like before, but it is just brilliant now. Not different to a normal cream...
It does cost more, but at least I don't mind putting it on my toddler...
The only negative compared to some other (chemical) sun blocks is that you need to apply it 15mins before sun exposure.
Children under 3 should not be exposed to direct sun at all, but sometimes you can't avoid it (especially when they are walking / running around and you can't simply sit them under a parasol). And for those moments, badger to the rescue. :-)
'In September 2013, Badger voluntarily recalled its SPF30 Baby and Kids Sunscreen Lotions. For complete information on the recall click here. Badger is now reformulating all sunscreen lotions for re-release in early 2015. We are taking the time to do this right and feel confident that the re-released lotions will exceed your expectations. In the meanwhile please check out our Sunscreen Creams.'
Sorry to write a negative review but these products should not still be on sale. Badger are currently re-formulating their suncreens.
1 year old and 3 year old without worrying about the chemicals I am putting on them. The cream takes a little while to rub in and although I liked the smell of it my daughter wasn't keen! They both wore it for a day on the beach with no problems - protected them from the sun and didn't bring them out in any reactions (both have had reactions to other creams in the past! Would definitely recommend this cream.
I bought this because I really liked the health-conscious, chemical-free ingredients.
* About the consistency of the cream:
Very thick for a sunscreen. It also separates a little bit inside the tube (so you get thick paste and a little bit of oil), so you may need to knead the tube a little to mix it well before applying.
* About how well it spreads:
It spreads really nicely on the skin; a little goes a long way.
* About how well it absorbs into your skin:
It's a really thick, white paste and it's a little hard to rub in. It's a little white on your skin when you put it on - I suspect it may be easier to make it blend in with your skin if you have a light skin tone naturally. Absorption-wise, I found it absorbs if you work it in a lot but if you have any dry skin areas, this cream sticks to the dry skin and highlights it with white which is impossible to rub in, and you end up looking extra-flakey which isn't the best look.. To try and mask the flakiness I resorted to rubbing in another more moisturizing sunscreen on top of the problem areas which seemed to help a little but didn't solve the problem entirely (the problem was only solved once I washed the Badger cream off a couple hours later).
* About the smell:
Not my favourite smell.. it smells a little medicinal.
* About how well it protected me from the sun:
I was out walking in the sun for a good number of hours on a really sunny day and it protected me really well - didn't even catch a tan!
Well, it's not perfect - the dy-skin-highlighting thing made me really self-conscious, but I guess if you don't have dry skin you probably won't encounter this problem. The main thing is that it protected me from the sun and it did that well, and that together with the great natural ingredients makes this a sunscreen I'd probably use again despite my problems with it.
