Skadinavian Edition, PAL/Region 2 DVD: Subtitles: Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish. Hilarious schlock-horror debut from New Zealand director Peter Jackson (Heavenly Creatures, Lord of the Rings Trilogy). A cult masterpiece, Bad Taste is a groundbreaking exploration of what would happen if a small town was subjected to an invasion by aliens intent on making its residents into inter-galactic meat products. You'll pass on the sausage rolls for a while after witnessing blood, guts and gore on an unparalleled level!

However, the transfer quality on most of these films is pretty awful. Sadly, Bad Taste is not excluded from this flaw. It looks like the contrast has been set far too low on a VHS video recorder and the brightness too high. It has then been presumably re-recorded on DVD-R.
Secondly, the version of Bad Taste on offer appears to be slightly edited. It should be noted however that Bad Taste was originally released to UK audiences on VHS in two different formats - one at 87 minutes and the other at 91 minutes (it was passed uncut by the BBFC in both formats), and as such the quality is probably not too far removed from the original VHS release. Or maybe it is simply played faster. But I am sure there are bits missing - I recall more detail in Derek's brain accident.
The remainder of the films are not great, although there a few chuckles to be had from the low budget nature of them. Bad Taste still has some great moments, and the other films may appeal to people who enjoy the 'so bad it's good' variety of horror.
Personally, I would look elsewhere for a remastered version of Bad Taste. There appear to be other versions available, but they are a bit more expensive.
I'm assuming the effects are intentionally terrible for comedy purposes.
Overall, worth a watch, probably best not to have the kids in the room.

One of Peter Jackson's earliest movies pre pre pre Lord of the Rings. Its a messy movie with little script or acting but I can't help but love it. Its movie schmaltz at its best.Published 11 months ago by Lokii
Totally daft and mind bending. You can tell its low budget its meant to be really tongue in cheek. I did watch it all the way through, would I watch it again probably not. Read morePublished 14 months ago by Juddz444
