For those of you who don't know, Diana is a psychic, who is often called upon by New Orleans Police Lieutenant, Ernie Lucier, and his team of detectives, to help them out with some of their more difficult cases, and help them out she does. When an old friend of Diana is brutally murdered, the team embark on a harrowing investigation, the outcome of which, none of them could ever have imagined.
I loved how the team really gelled in Backlash. Beecher, Cash and Halloran were an integral part of the story, Cash in particular came into his own. Some of the peripheral characters were great too, Miss Kitty, Emile and especially the obnoxious Dave!
The book starts with a bang and pretty much keeps you in suspense until the end. At one point, I was on tenterhooks, I NEEDED to know what happened and read furiously until I found out!
I won't give the story away, I never do, I would hate to spoil things for future readers, especially with a book as good as this. I would suggest reading books one and two first if possible, to really give you a feel for the characters and to find out about their backgrounds.
I just love Polly Iyer's books. They are exceptionally well written, easy to read, with great characters and plot lines. I really hope there is another Diana Racine book in the pipeline, until then, I may just have to go back to book one and read the series again.......actually, that's not a bad idea!!

The book was FANTASTIC, I read it through, couldn't put it down. Didn't turn on the TV for anything, not even the news.
Never have I done that before.
This lady ROCKS!! One beck of a ride, it is truly addictive.
My only suggestion?
Start from the beginning?
What made this book so interesting was the decision one man made caused a ripple that caused everyone work back to find the source. Those secrets, skeletons that we don't perhaps want people to know about.
The author did an awesome job of pulling you right into the dropping of that one decision and then taking you on the ride of learning who did what when and how. You would even begin to question everyone yourself because there was no complete answer until the end.
I will not spoil the ride for anyone, that would just not be fair. What I will say is get comfy, perhaps use a weekend or a long one cause once you start you will not want to get off till you know it all. I would hate to have anyone lose sleep and have to try to go to work. (winks)
Enjoy....I know I did.
