Bought this follow-on novel after reading Fade to Black (intro book to DCI Allie St Clair) Both are excellect 5 stars and had me gripped from the first page. Brilliant combination of supernatural & police procedure. Characters are intriguing, interseting and would have liked to have read more books on them .
The writing is page turning and good. The best way I can describe the book is a combination of fantasy and police procedural really - angels, devil and his minions and the Metropolitan police.
Once again a fabulous story which kept me interested to the very end. A great plot with lots of detail to really immerse yourself in the story. I loved it and am already eagerly waiting the next from this talented author. Thank you.

You have to suspend your credibility and buy into the premise that a mortal woman - St Clair - is the lover of the Archangel Michael one of the protagonists in the Game waged against Satan - Mr deVille - and his son John Black. The stories are well paced and told but I found this one confusing in places and a little bit too long. It's very much for diehard afficionados!

I loved it. Read Fade to Black a few months ago and recently decided it was time for the next one. The subject seems crazy especially when someone asks what the book is about. It is strongly, compelling and a good story, you just can't put it down. Because of the ending, I now have to read the next one. Great, I was going to anyway.

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK UNTIL YOU HAVE READ "FADE TO BLACK" BY THE SAME AUTHOR. A sequel to the aforementioned preposterous tale of a battle of the forces of good and evil, developing into a GREAT GAME, the winners gaining control of the Universe!! This time it centres on Modern day London. All the old characters are back with some new ones, explanations are given for some of the unresolved puzzles of the first book. Once again it would spoil the tension of the story to give too much detail. Events unfold in a bizarrely twisting way with an overdose of blood, guts and gore (in rather graphic detail) as our hero and heroine Michael and Allison hurtle through the capital to keep ahead of the mayhem, and although it all seems rather ludicrous, once again the Author has presented us with a cast of well characterised and totally likable or hateable characters. It is simply an unputdownable book, and though it is extremely far-fetched one half believes that such chaos could be totally possible, daft as it may seem. Not a happy ending, but in this GAME anything could be possible so here's hoping for some more in the series. Well worth the read.

Archangels, demons and Satan himself make an appearance in the second of the St Clair series. Once again a fabulous story which kept me interested to the very end. A great plot with lots of detail to really immerse yourself in the story. I loved it and am already eagerly waiting the next from this talented author. Thank you.

As fantasy goes, the first two novels are fun, exciting and of course shove away at the boundaries of the credible. But it's all good fun and probably no more improbable than the average Western or modern spy movie/novel. Allie is developing in more ways than one and the novel end with a cliff hanger...all fast paced, with deaths and near deaths piling up.

I can tell you from the get go, it is not for those with unbending beliefs, those who do not have a taste for the supernatural.
It is thrilling, it is super fast paced, it is gory at times and it is a fantastic read.
Do not miss the series if you have the courage.
Oh and I simply adore a heroine who saves Archangel Michael. She is strong, she is powerful, she is smart and she is adorable. My kind of superheroine!!

Got interested in this series having read the first book in a "bundle" set. Brilliant!! Great story development and doesn't shy away from harsh decisions with his characters! Have read the whole series now and totally hooked!
