Review

"If you need a funny, light read ..., I promise you this is a superb choice!" MustReadBooksOrDie.com"

"Laugh-out-loud fun! Rachel Van Dyken is on my auto-buy list."--Jill Shalvis, New York Times bestselling author of the Lucky Harbor series

"If you want a story with make you laugh til you cry parts, heart melting sweet parts and melt your panty parts, this is the book for you! The family is in rare form, and the wedding week festivities are a hoot. What I really love, though is how Rachel's books are sexy, funny and romantic, but they also have serious issues for the main characters to work through. You might be rolling on the floor laughing one minute and tearing up the next. That's when books are the best! All I can say is, "Bring on book three, Rachel!"--The Book Hookers

Funny, romance, humour, and a storyline akin to a modern Cinderella. Well worth a read. Very light and gentle. Jealousy, 2 ugly sisters do want to strangle. Two handsome twin brothers to drool over. A hunk of a hero, a bashful heroine, who develops a need. A grandfather who is really a lamb in wolf's clothing. A great story.

The Bachelor Auction was my first time reading Rachel Van Dyken and I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic comedy Cinderella themed story. The author managed to add a uniqueness, to what could have been an overly cliche plot, to keep things interesting and pulling you in to this relatively light-hearted romance. While the book ends setting up future books for other characters, it can be definitely be read as a standalone and I will be looking out for more books by this author in the future.

Brock and Jane had a strong chemistry and instant attraction, despite their glaringly obvious opposite lifestyles. Jane, a maid who runs her own cleaning company but isn’t flush with money, is quiet but strong, and like Brock struggles to say no to family. Brock is next in line to take over his grandfather’s business but underneath his initial serious demeanour, is a man who just wants to be loved and happy. When Brock and Jane get thrown together for a period of time it is clear that they might not be quite so opposite and have similar scars that they don’t let show easily. The dual perspectives you get through the book helped round the characters further, while the sub-characters showed different sides to Brock and Jane’s characters and their lives. Brock’s younger twin brother, Bentley and Brant were key figures, and just as loveable as Brock and Jane, in helping along the story and relationship while adding in lots of humorous moments with all their baiting.

The Bachelor Auction was exceptionally well written and had a perfect blend of humour, heart and heart breaking moments that will have you laughing out loud as you get swept up in Brock and Jane’s story. The book was clearly well thought out and planned and had a good, steady pace that followed the solid plot.

Fabulous read, quite unable to stifle giggles when in public places or in bed so I just went with the flow. Damn husband, cat, other coffee drinkers in the cafe, even waiting patients in the doctor's surgery!

This is a cute Cinderella themed story that was enjoyable. Brock and Jane made a cute couple but the stars of the show for me were Brock's twin brothers, I can't wait to read their books!

This author does write witty dialogue. I loved all the 'co*k' references!

I thought the ugly sisters aka Jane's sisters were a bit far fetched considering they were both Lawyers but were both in debt and it seemed ridiculous that Jane as the youngest sibling at age 22 was their 'carer'.

Brock is 35 but didn't act his age. He wasn't my ideal type of hero as he was a bit soppy for my tastes but I did like him and him and Jane were obviously a good match considering the roles they took on in their families.

A cute romantic read.

This was a sweet book. Sort of.

I really liked the overall story but there was just something about both of the main characters I just didn't 100% get on with.

Both Jane and Brock were complete push overs. I personally prefer my heroes and heroines with a bit more oomph to them. To be honest there were points in this that I kinda just wanted to give them both a kick up the rear end.
Brock seriously needed some counselling after the death of his parents and his family totally saw that he wasn't fine but didn't do anything to help him any way.
Jane was just a push over letting her manipulative sisters walk all over her and well just manipulate her in general.

But even though I didn't love these two characters, I found the overall story to be sweet. It was a sweet love story and I found myself rooting for them anyway. And well...who doesn't love a good romantic love story?!

I did find myself really intrigued with Brock's brothers, the twins and I do wonder what their stories are. I shall definitely look out for their stories as overall I found them more likeable and interesting than Brock.

What a brilliant new book from Rachel Van Dyken! I really enjoyed this modern twist on the classic Cinderella tale. Very sweet, sexy and romantic book with a little bit of drama and angst thrown in too. It was easy to read and I found myself immersed in the story right the way through with plenty of laughs too.

Although it was the modern day 'Cinderella', I did still find it very unique and refreshing to read. Jane is our Cinder's in this story, running her aptly named cleaning company. When she gets offered a job with pay that she simply cannot refuse, she takes the job, leaving her nasty sisters at home whilst she goes to work at Brock's ranch.

The interaction between these two characters is very funny at times. I enjoyed seeing how their relationship developed, and how Brock was struggling to come to terms with doing the right thing and gaining the approval from his Grandfather that he so desperately wanted, but wasn't sure he'd get. I also loved Brock's brothers and can see there will be a lot more fun to come from them in the future.

There is a lot of humour in this story and you can definitely feel the comedy factor. Yes, it's also a bit cheesy at times and rather predictable, but so what? I loved that aspect - it was a great refreshing read to break up some heavier books and was just what I needed.
