Listening to it now, I've loved 'The Books' for ages but this has to be my favourite, Bach at its best and not masked by the performers ego.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite: Perhaps the most satisfying performance of the WTC that you will ever hear 30 April 2014
By Lancelot R. Fletcher - Published on Amazon.com
Verified Purchase
Over the past few months I have listened to this performance in its entirety at least a dozen times. Every time I hear new things in the music. I own many recordings of the WTC -- Gould, Feltsman, Richter, Gulda and others on piano, and at least 3 recordings on harpsichord. Until now Gould was for me the standard against which I compared all others. Not fair, really, because the WTC in an inexhaustible work with more in it than any one performance can express. So if I say that Evelyne Crochet's rendition is now my favorite, this is not to say anything negative about any other musician, only that whereas with Gould's rendition I am often aware that I am listening to Gould playing Bach, with Crochet I hear only Bach.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful, wonderful performance !! 14 Aug. 2016

i went thru many WTCs in past 20 yrs, entranced by gould in my younger days, didnt like gulda, found richter little too bold, bored by schiff I & II, my go to disc these days is hewitt II (with fazioli) - her dance like quality & lightness of touch made WTC fun.
now i have a new love, crochet. a lyrical & graceful rendition, esp book 2. she has beautiful legato line, with pedal (so what if it makes it enjoyable ?)
fellow Bach keyboard afficionados, do yourself a favor as life is short, get this

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Appealing 7 Sept. 2010
By Peter P. Fuchs - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
It almost goes without saying that this elegantly distaff interpretation of Bach's masterpiece is nothing like the crazy Canadian's. This is a very personal and reliably musical reading throughout. It is virtuosic, as if by convenience more than anything else. It is resolutely pushy with some tempos in the fugues, but it is never showy. In a word, it is what a tremendously talented musician should give us in the well-tempered realm. A personal experience. Not a hyper-masculine existenitialist ultimatum a la Gould. This is a lady-like interpretation in the very best sense. That is to say say, sensitive, coaxing and musically reassuring in a wonderful way. There is nothing missing in it one bit. The feminine touch only offers greater insight.
