This book manages to demonstrate, in an accessible way, how some of the latest scientific research can be applied to help us make sense of and understand the world of a young child. This is enhanced by Fernyhough's tender and sensitive recollections of his daughter's early years. It really is a beautifully written book.
I have bought copies of this book for most of my friends and family members with young children and it has been a resounding success. I don't think there's anything else quite like it currently on the market and I really can't recommend it highly enough.
I'd recommend it to anyone without children and everyone with them!
I should say that the language and the depth of the description is touching and wonderful.
