This item is a telephone adapter between a BT telephone socket and an RJ11 plug. It is NOT an adapter from a BT telephone socket to an ADSL (broadband) modem that uses an RJ11 connector.
This item connects BT telephone plug pins 2,3,4 & 5 to RJ11 socket pins 2,3,4 & 5 respectively. It is intended to connect phones with an RJ11 plug to a BT telephone socket as reported by other reviewers. It is also suitable for connecting a dial-up modem to a BT socket using a four-wire RJ11 - RJ11 lead.
(To connect an ADSL (broadband) modem to a BT socket, pins 2 & 5 of the BT telephone plug need to be wired to pins 3 & 4 of the RJ11 socket. A normal broadband ADSL microfilter provides this connection as well as inserting filters between the BT telephone plug and the BT telephone socket connections.)
