BT 300 Digital Baby Monitor
The BT Digital Baby Monitor 300 gives you peace of mind whilst your baby is resting or sleeping peacefully and has Hi Definition (Hi-dS) sound so every breath, gurgle and cry from your baby will come through loud and clear when they need you. Sound level LED’s alert you visually to any sounds coming from your baby’s room. The rechargeable parent unit is portable so you can take it with you as you walk around the house or even in the garden and an out of range alert lets you know if you are getting out of range of the transmitting unit, so you’ll never have to worry if you’re close enough to hear what’s going on.
BT Digital Baby Monitor 300 also features an ingenious two way talk back function so not only can you hear your baby if they wake, you’ll be able to let your baby hear the sound of your voice instantly and remotely from another room or communicate with a partner in the room. On Christmas eve (just under 2 months after purchase) we turned on the parent unit and it wouldn't connect. We checked the baby unit and that was on, but the two just wouldn't link. We moved closer to the baby unit with no luck. Tried the reset on both parent and baby units also with no luck. We had to wait three days to ring the BT helpline who didn't sound surprised. They said we'd done all the things they would normally walk us through and gave us an error code and told us to send it back to Amazon with that error code.
Amazon were excellent and sent a new unit before we'd even returned the first.
The new unit worked just like the first. It was very good until 1 month later the same thing happened. For no explicable reason the units just wouldn't connect. They hadn't had any issues the previous day and we never had a single dropped link during use of the original or replacement. It just decided it had had enough, and so did I. The replacement went back for a refund (again Amazon were brilliant) and we've bought a V-Tech unit without the talk-back function. So far so good on that one, but we'll wait and see.
Battery life in the hand unit is better than the previous generation of units too. After using they same set of batteries over and over these will lose some charging power and run out quicker, having tested new batteries in my older favourite projector style version the new 300 model did seem to last a little longer before beeping away telling us the batteries were ready for giving up. This does annoy me to be honest, the batteries running out is frustrating but the unit going beep-beep-beep every 20 seconds for nigh on half an hour if you let it is somewhat excessive, surely a couple of soft tones for a few minutes followed by louder screeching sounds would be better use of the batteries - all this beeping is certain to drain them! Gripe over and this aside with all of their units i do like it.
Simplistic is more powerful in my view, too many bells and whistles makes you worry too much! As stated initially, crystal clear audio and the base unit placed near to baby but not within reach is what will make a good unit work to its full potential. Hard to fault…
I think I found it here, with a respected name who obviously know what they are doing when it comes to good quality communications.
You can hear all of the small sounds through this, and you can adjust the volume to what ever makes you comfortable.
We don't use the light on it, however it is actually very nice and subtle. It might be attractive to your child.
Now our boy has gotten a little older, he loves to turn it off when he wakes up - and if we left the receiver on, he loves to hunt for it following the beep-beep! It is just a little added bonus.
I decided on this monitor because our boy was already older than what a video, or breathing mat/monitor with all bells and whistles would provide for us, so as I say, we decided on a small and simple, good quality monitor.
We've had no issues in losing signal anywhere around the house, and even briefly tested it at a further distance in the garden when my wife needed to get my attention.
We have noticed a few times where it just doesn't seem to connect, but that has been rectified by just unplugging the sending unit and waiting a few moments before putting the power back. It has always come back and considering it is used every day, it is a very rare occurrence.
I can also say that on setting it up I noticed the charging light flicker on and off on occasion - I thought nothing of it until a few days later I realised there was a loose connection in one of the adapters, so it would only charge in a specific position.
I called up the BT support line and they were only too happy to send us a replacement adapter out straight away.Read more ›
