This poor review has been taken up by the company, who have taken my criticisms very series & have offered me full redress. I have been impressed by their help, which they had no need to give me. This criticism has been satisfactorily addressed & I am happy because of the efforts taken to bring matters to a satisfactory conclusion.
I guess the most important thing is quality of shave and I am impressed, it's smooth, quiet and powerful. I haven't used the trimmer so don't know about that. I have shaved after 2 days and it coped with no problem.
I wanted to see how long it would last without charging and after 20 days the light started flashing red, I may have got an extra day or more but I was well impressed with that.
I like the fact that the plastic is high gloss so hairs can be removed very easily.
The shaving head hinges open so no more dropping the shaving head and searching for the bits!
All in all an excellent buy
We read the reviews on Amazon for this one and were impressed at how good they were.
It arrived quickly, well packaged and included a cleaning brush, a pouch to store the shaver in and a usb cable for recharging via the computer.
My husband says the shaver looks well made, it gives a good shave and he's very happy with it - so far, so good.
Just one thing - the shaver is described as waterproof but how waterproof is it I wonder? The safety warning in the User Manuel reads "Do not place or store razor where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink".
A warranty card was also included and the warranty is for 15 months.
For the price this is a very good buy. I'm not surprised that this is a top seller on Amazon.
So, for the last month I have been using the Broadcare IPX7 waterproof razor in the shower. First impressions are reasonably good; it's nicely packaged and although the plastic body looks a bit cheap and shiny it is slightly rubberised and so is unlikely to slip out of your hand. Mine came charged but I still gave it a full charge before using it - via usb, a brilliant design improvement over the ridiculous two pin plugs that all razors come with, that you can never find an adapter for when you need it.
Using it in the shower with shaving foam means that you get a really very decent shave indeed - in fact I would go out on a limb here and say it's *almost* as good as the Panasonic was and for a fifteenth of the price that's pretty impressive. I've used it for a full month every day and I only charged it yesterday because I felt like I really ought to, the low battery light hadn't come on and it hadn't started choking and catching hairs, although perhaps the tone of the motor had dropped a little. The sound, that's another thing; you don't get the reassuringly throaty motor sound that you will get from a Braun, this sounds distinctly nasal. Less Chris Cornell, more Sam Smith.
The one and only thing that to my mind loses this item that one star is the finish on the blade covers. Remingtons and Philips and Brauns (oh my!) coat their covers/foils in materials that decrease the friction for an easier glide over the skin, whereas these feel like plain old stainless steel stamped, deburred and put in place - I can't imagine a dry shave with this razor would be a particularly pleasant experience, but that's not why I bought it. It is, however, the one thing that struck me as a tangible negative, so it shaves off that fifth star.
I don't know how this would handle serious beard growth, mine is very tough so perhaps I ought to get a couple of weeks growth on there and see how it handles that.
In conclusion though, it is extremely hard not to recommend this razor; it's insanely cheap, it's easy to use, it's very effective and so far it's reliable - £19 very well spent.
First, it gives me a good shave. That's vital, given that's its purpose.
Second, the battery has lasted from 25 August till 9 October, in use every day, which is over six weeks. Other shavers have gradually died but this did not lose power. The battery indicator turned to a red picture of a charger. It is charging at the moment and we'll see how the charge continues to last.
The shaver comes with a USB cable (it has a longer reach than normal, which you need) but no mains plug. That's ok because I have lots of them. It also has a neat drawstring bag and a brush. It comes in a lovely box which I am loath to throw out.
All in all, this looks to have been a very good purchase. We'll see how it is after a time.
