I have read a fair number of books about coping with redundancy and thought this was absolutely brilliant. It is packed with great tips and covers a huge range of topics. Editing your CV and cover letter, and dealing with the hidden job market and tough interviews are all necessary evils. However, in my experience, keeping positive, being resilient and using the time to develop personally and professionally are all vital and often overlooked by other books. If you have months of unstructured emptiness ahead of you, keeping mentally and physically fit, coping with changed relationship dynamics, contemplating doing courses and voluntary work etc. will all feature. This book addresses all these issues in an excellent fashion. It will help get you back on track - whilst re-emerging as a happier, more rounded individual at the end of what could otherwise prove to be an endless, tortuous process.

Sandra Bellamy's Break Through The Barriers of Redundancy book will help many people going through the painful aftermath of redundancy, something I have personally experienced not once, but twice. Sandra has produced an excellently written and presented resource book which positively sparkles with her unique, holistic and inspirational quirky style. She offers practical advice across the board from help with making a CV to ways to increase your confidence. For anyone who is unemployed and wondering what on earth to do next, I highly recommend this book.

The author, Sandra Bellemy has really kept to her methodology with this release maintaining her "quirky" theme. The book is inspirational and offers tips not found anywhere else. If you've been made redundant and feeling of little worth or low esteem; or simply looking for reassurance. This book is for you!

Despite not being the target audience I did find it to be an insightful read. In my opinion it is best to not treat it as a read from A to Z, though certainly on a first read that is what makes the most sense, but rather the alphabet chapters as markers to pick and choose what you feel interested in. The long and short of the book is that there is no miracle solution to redundancy or unemployment in general, but any tactic has to be personal and curated. To this end, it certainly gives a good shot at being as general as possible whilst also being surprisingly specific at times in order to prompt ideas.
