Mostly I apply this oil to wood that will be deployed outdoors though I have also used it to seal brickwork. Whenever possible I warm the oil gently as this reduces the viscosity and allows it to penetrate the wood more readily -- both faster and deeper. For the grain-ends of timber my preferred method of application is to stand the wood in a container of luke-warm oil and let capillary action carry the oil up into the timber.

While wet the oil has a fairly typical linseed odour.

If the oil is applied using a brush or rag then it should be applied in thin coats. A first thin coat can be dry within half a day, perhaps as little as two hours if conditions are favourable. Subsequent coats can take longer to dry -- perhaps a couple of days even in favourable conditions. If the oil is applied thickly it remains tacky for months, perhaps forever.

The colour is, as per the picture, a deep reddish orange so it does change and darken the appearance of whatever it is applied to.

Should I need more boiled linseed oil I'd certainly consider this product and would purchase it again if I found the price to be satisfactory. I've found the price of this stuff varies considerably and that browsing suppliers is worthwhile.

excellent, can be mixed with other linceed oil's too to make your own blend or colour...works well on antique wood. Its quite dark though, so if you're using it on a piece of fine walnut, it will make it go quite dark in places, so a pre-sanding or wood sealer will be a must, unless your going for a more saturated look? Use sparingly, drying time is about two weeks on this one (fully dried) although that time will vary occording to atmostspheric conditions, room temperature, and the type of wood you are applying it too, Beech for example takes even longer to dry than using this on walnut for example.

Just what I needed to refinish an old rifle stock. Does what it says and half the price of the high street hardware store. I was a little concerned about ordering this potentially oily mess via the post, however it came very securely, but minimally packaged, with extra duct tape sealing the lid. I am pleased with my purchase, and remember if you want quick drying always go with boiled.
