Interesting and good read. A bit predictable but that did not spoil the story. If you want a light erotic story then this is ok.

HASH(0x8c6c26d8) out of 5 stars Creepy and Erotic Tale 16 Oct. 2013

Town Constable Ed Bolt is an angry young man and a self-imposed outcast with an ill-formed foot. One night, investigating reports of strange goings-on at the preacher’s house, he’s captured and ends up in the care of the preacher’s daughter, Julia.

Trapped in her room, Julia’s had a crush on Ed for a while. Ed is instantly attracted to Julia’s shapely form and flaming red hair. In no time, the two fall in love and struggle to find a way to escape from her father’s house. Her crazy father plans to allow an evil monster that lives in a cave under the house to convert everyone into demon slaves.

This is a scary, creepy tale with occasional romance and erotica thrown into the mix. Since I am a romance reader, I would have preferred more weight on the latter. The descriptions are compelling and fresh and the plot kept me engrossed.

HASH(0x8cf626b4) out of 5 stars Horrible 19 Aug. 2015

I don't know why I bothered to finish this. It's horrible and not even funny in how bad it is. With the dark and stormy hero always stumbling over his words (he says "ugh" and "umm" with the frequency of a middle schooler), stuttering, or being at a total loss for words, the descriptions of his character in no way match the actions he performs or the words that come so clumsily out of his mouth. I don't have a PhD in history or linguistics, but in pretty sure 18th century Proto-Byronic antiheros don't end the majority of their sentences with "right?" How many times can one person say "rutting?" And Julia is an insipid, brainless child who stands around and cries into her cleavage. I picture her being portrayed by Jennifer Coolidge in a bad red wig. I'm not even going to go into the whole steampunk zombie resurrection that is used to try and explain Croatoan. Good, observant readers make better writers, this author needs about 10 more years of practice and a good editor.

This was my first supernatural, romantic, erotica story and I rather liked it. It was short and sweet with enough mystery added to make it worthwhile. I did like the idea of a deformed hero which I thought that added to it. I would recommend this to other readers.

Well, it explains Croatoan, I'll give it that, but personally I prefer the explanation from Sam and Dean Winchester and "Supernatural" : ) .I tried really hard to like this story, I really did. But it just didn't do much for me. The hero was cool, despite being told all his life that his club foot was a punishment from God and evidence of a particularly sinful nature. The heroine was an odd combination of childlike trust and full figured sexuality.

The true evil was an alien called "Croatoan" who had been hibernating after leaving it's dying planet and had been dug up by the rector who mind-merged with it to create zombies of sorts. It is searching for the rest of it's kind that are still hibernating across the world. Then the author throws in some "Frankenstein" and some evil Vulcan mind meld machines, and a wedding as a distraction, some MacGyver.....Stop....It's too much. Not sure what she was going for, other than an excuse to write sex scenes, but she didn't get there. Sorry, maybe next time.

Heat factor hot.
