Worth a go at the right price, it's certainly not worth paying the full triple A title price they are normally charging now.

The game is addictive, it's a bit grindy but rewarding. Having played MWO previously I am enjoying this.

Downsides are, graphics are terribly outdated, I destroyed an enemy mech on a hill, and its body clipped straight into to the terrain with just the feet sticking out, there is just no excuse for that in 2018. Basic particles, lighting effects, aminations etc all let it down.

Game also lacks a bit of content, missions get samey pretty quick, and there is a lack of mech variants, weapons and options with setip, particularly if you compare that to what is in MWO.

If you can get it cheap go for it, I think if you pay top dollar you'll be disappointed.

I've been playing the Mechwarrior games since they first appeared, so it's great to finally get to play a new one.
The game has two modes, the campaign and Skirmish, which is like instant action on all the other Mechwarrior games. After getting my hand in on Skirmish, I went for the campaign.
The campaign has two aspects, the first has all the elements of an RPG, where you choose your character and background and manage your mercenary company, which in itself can be challanging, as you have to manage all aspects including Mech maintenance, morale and finances.
The primary aspects of the game are managing the contracts and battles. The battles are turn based, like the Mechwarrior boardgame of old, except that all the effects of cover, bracing etc, are calculated for you. This turn based play can be a little tricky to begin with but easy to pick up, although the game will exploit and punish mistakes ruthlessly.
The campaign story is very good and this is certainly the most important aspect of any Mechwarrior game, which is why I've never played Mechwarrior Online because although it looks great, it's never lived up to its promises and is basically just instant action.
The graphics for Battletech are fantastic, even on low and medium settings and the various camera zooms etc are easy to set up. Zooming in on things can be a little tricky but everyone complains about that and I understand that this will soon be patched. Apart from that, Battletech is a great game and they promise to advance the game historically through the next succession war and the Clan invasion which is something to look forward to.

Game overall is very good. Major flaws in performance of the game which really let it down, i hope they are resolved with a patch very soon. High end machines will struggle with Frame rates and the graphics are abit dated looking for this day and age. 5 stars if the performance issues are patched.
