The story flows so easily that when book comes to the end your lost thinking what do I read now because you never what the story to end. One of the best books I have read in a while you wont be disappointed x
Carter Reynolds has been raised by just his mum after never meeting his dad. Carter and his mum go to meet his grandparents. Carter has high hopes and is hoping for a happy family affair but his grandfather calls him a bastard. This one word will stick with Carter Reynolds for the rest of his life.
Aged 17 Carter's mum marries and let's just say him and his step dad don't exactly see eye to eye. His stepdad calls Carter a hardware and sees him as a burden. Carter can't wait till the day he turns 18 so he can move away and the police can't make him go back home. As soon as he moves next door he clocks girl next door Indi. These two end up having a love/hate relationship. Indi sees through Carter's facade and ends up breaking down the walls he's put up.
One night changes everything and Carter decides to get away and not stick around to see what happens next.
Fast forward 5 years and Carter receives a phone call from his mum telling him that his step dad has died and she needs Carter. Whilst he's been away the past 5 years he has never forgotten about Indi, but he has to face his past before he can see where his future is heading.
Omg Don't be mislead by the title of this book I was I thought yes bad boy oh how wrong I was but in a bloody fantastic way......??Carter Reynolds is brought up single handed by his mother when she gets married and they move in with him things change. Being told by his grandfather and now by his stepdad he's a "Barstard" he totally believes it that's until he meets the girl next door Indiana Montgomery.....The story starts when he's 17 and she's 15 and that also put me off a little has in another teenage romance again?? Boy wrong again Indi is also brought up by just her father losing her mum at just 6 to a brain Tumour when they meet it starts out has a love hate relationship but grows into a beautiful friendship that reaches paths of devastation along the way. I totally loved the way the author made me hate her and sob but then love her and smile. Brilliantly written, this story pulls you in and messes with your emotions but I could read it all over again. It is a must read!
The start of this book really sets the scene and it is a truly heart breaking opening that any one person should have to experience, my heart really went out to Carters mother to be have been treated that way by her family.
I feel like my mind has been through the ringer, in a good way though, this book took me through so many emotions it was hard for my brain to catch up with them all.
I enjoyed this book greatly and the whole time i was reading i had a thought in my mind on repeat 'Carter is anything but a Bastard' this guy has this warped view of himself from his experience as a child but he so very wrong. indi really showed Carter that he was so much more than the ugly label he had been given by his grandfather as a child.
I adored the relationship between Carter an Indi's dad he really showed Carter how a on should be treated.
I loved the dynamic between the two main characters, the struggles these two people went through just shows that they were meant to be.
This book is wonderful thought provoking story that will stay with you long after the last page. J.L.Perry has done such a brilliant job and her writing style is flawless, any author that can make you feel the pain, love, heart break and joy that her characters are feeling are onto a winner for me.
Carter who see's himself as a bastard because of his early on look at life as a child being called it by his grandad and step dad. It sticks with him until he meets Indi and starts to develop feelings for her that he's never experienced. But because of this and him not getting on with his step dad. Carter ups and leaves. He then doesn't see Indi until he returns to his home town 5 years later with news from his mother that his step dad has passed away.
This book made me laugh out loud and cry as it takes you through a roller-coaster of events of and keeps you wanting more. Charter is to die for, he's such a lovable character. The relationship and chemistry between them is brilliant.
J L Perry describes the characters extremely well and you get inside both Carter and Indi's head with the chapters written from both points of view. Which I loved.
This is my first read by J.L Perry and definitely won't be the last it is a must read book.
