Creative ideas with exciting possibilities. Unfortunately, the writer has an awkward style at times, especially in her use of descriptors. You know what she means, but her words are often ill-chosen or just plain wrong, for example, "horrifically" instead of horrified. This makes for some disjointed reading. The most frustrating aspect, though, is having to observe Meghan as she does all the cooking, washing or laundry, while her male twin doesn't lift a finger. This blatant inequality isn't challenged, even by the adults in the tale, sending a not so subtle message to readers that domestic chores are women's work. The male characters (Arnon and Colin) are depicted in more interesting pursuits while Meghan cleans up after them. For this reason, I'll give the rest of the books in the series a skip.

Enjoyed this enchanting tale of two young orphaned twins, about to become teenagers. Book 1 sets a nice plot which I hope will go places over the series. The younger characters are written well as we follow their annual visit to a particular camping site. They soon start to learn things they never knew before.

When I received this book free I knew I would have to leave an honest review because it's not fair to just accept free books when the writer has put their heart and soul into the story's we read. I can honestly say I loved this book! It's a story about twins a boy and a girl and learning that there's more to their lives than they realised and find there is magic not only around them but within themselves too! They have grown up with their uncle and never questioned the fact that they always moved around and never stayed in one place for long. There's a very big secret that has been kept from them and they only find out that they are special a few days before their birthday. There uncle has protected them for as long as he could as there are many dangers out there for them in this world just because they have a gift that others would not understand. I would really recommend this book and it's something teenagers can read also. I can't wait to read more about them in the next book as this book just got better and better as I kept on reading it!

I liked the dynamic between the twins and the fact it had kind of magical powers made it so much better. There was the odd spelling error which you can bearly notice and don't really detract from the overall story.

It does take a little getting used to and I don't think it would be suitable for anyone under 14 because of the gore. But overall definately worth 4 out of 5.
