Downloaded this free in April 2012, and enjoyed the storyline, intended for 15+, very much. Although the heroine is meant to be 22, there are times she sounds and behaves like a very young teenager, with temper tantrums, shrieks, crushes, and small - and large - rebellions against authority. Despite that, the plot is a clever twist on the more conventional paranormal, and would be most enjoyable, if only it had been edited, but there are so many errors they become a distraction.

The same words are used several times within paragraphs, and even sentences. Tautology is rampant, with 'resemble like' used more than once, and 'replaced the cap back on'. Adverbs are misplaced 'He twisted the bracelet that adorned his wrist awkwardly'; apostrophes suddenly appear where there should simply be plurals; 'you're parents' should be 'your'; and there are words with missing letters, from 'an' for 'and', to 'weary' for 'wary'. There are also tense changes, sometimes mid-sentence!

I've waited several months in the hopes that the author would issue a revised version, but she would appear to be content with the errors. It's a pity, because her readership deserves better, and so does the story.

I have one word for it: epic.

I defiantly recommend this book. I couldn't put it down. I did not see that ending coming but now that it has come I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I'm really enjoying this story. I like the slightly religious overtones but its not peachy. I'm a fan of vampire and supernatural stories. This gives me a wide range of things to explore in the series.

Lucy Donovan is on her way to celebrate her upcoming graduation from college, when a horrific accident with a drunk driver ends her mortal life.
She wakes up in a strange place to find out that she has a new destiny: to become a Patronus (a guardian of spirits). Trying to adjust to her new environment, Lucy will find herself going up against spirits who don't want her help, vampires wanting to steal the souls she and others are guarding and even a stuck-up British royal.
To further complicate matters, she feels a growing connection to one of her team mates, Max. His behaviour leaves Lucy confused and intrigued to say the least. Waking up dead is the least of her problems, but it is the beginning of the greatest adventure of her life.

I'm extremely grateful that I won this book in a swag competition! I wasn't sure what to expect, but boy it didn't disappoint! I loved it! As I began to read Lucy's story, I became immersed in her world. Sarah has created a fantastic adventure/romance. I love her style of writing, and I could easily imagine the characters in my head. Lucy is mature for her age, which is understandable as you get to know her. She is definitely feisty, and does not back down from situations. This tends to get her into trouble, but she just keeps coming out swinging! Her team mates are a great ensemble, and compliment her hot-headedness. Hmm Max! What can I say! He's gorgeous! *fanning oneself!*. Mind you, James and Adam aren't too far behind either! There is only one other girl on the team, Cassie. She's just as feisty as Lucy, but she is more experienced, and is the first friend Lucy makes in her new life. I recommend this book if you want to go on a fantastic adventure. I am now looking forward to reading book two: Avenge, which is due to be released in late summer/fall this year.
