I was born in piemonte, a not-yet too touristy gem of a place, with hearty and amazingly tasty food. I bought this book for my mother who used to live there, in a small countryside village. She was very happy. Beautiful pictures of the region and all the typical recipes. I will be borrowing the book to use in my kitchen. I liked the book so much that I bought a second copy for a friend's birthday: she loved it.
5 stars for the book. I would however have preffered it to come wrapped in a polythene or paper/cardboard sleeve to preserve its corners during postage/wrapping so as to maintain its perfection until gifted. Good for the environment not to have it though!

Recently used this cookbook as the basis for my gourmet supper club and made a complete meal of all of the recipes that I grew up with at holiday time. It brought back so many memories and dinner was an enormous success. Everyone even brought wines from the Piemonte area to complement dinner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Travel and Recipe Guide to Italy's Northwest 29 Dec. 2007
By Stephen - Published on Amazon.com

This intensely personal book on the Piemonte is a delight. It is a gorgeous pictorial survey of the entire region. The narrative brings a nice personal touch. And the recipes seem to be delicious. I plan on cooking several.

The Piedmont is the one region north of Rome that we have not visited. I am already planning my next visit to Italy based on this book.

Lovely photos of the land, people and food. Text describes the history, industry, agriculture and the food. I loved the sections on producing cashmere cloth and the truffle market. Head inside bag sniffing truffles is one of my favorite photos.

By Daniel Darling - Published on Amazon.com

A very passionate insight into northern Italy's produce basket, Piemonte. This is a region little known by the rest of the world and after reading this book by Manuela I still can't understand how it remains out of the limelight. A beautifully designed book filled with fantastic photographs and delicious recipes- highly recommended to those who get equal joy out of all things food!

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book 10 Oct. 2008
By Pyewacket - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
There really aren't many worthy books about the Piemonte region of Italy but this one definitely does it justice. Gorgeous photography, excellent and informative text, good recipes. The only thing that mars the book is the annoying frequency in which the author appears in otherwise wonderful photographs.
