This story was amusing and sad in equal measures. The mixture of people of different religions, nationalities and backgrounds not always living in harmony but supporting each other in times of need was excellent, even though some of the events that made up this story were a little far fetched. Yet another good read from this author.

I first read Autumn Alley over 25 years ago. At 52 I've been an avid reader all my life & must have real thousands. This is 1 of, if not the finest books I've ever had the pleasure of reading in my life. Lena Kennedy's death was a huge loss, like losing a dear friend. Excellent.

Autmn Ally was the first book I've read in ages that I couldn't put down until I'd read it from cover to cover. The characters in it have their good times and also along with them come their tradedies, which if you or your family come from london you will be able to relate to, in some way. I found this book gripping and I hope everyone that decides to read it thinks the same.

I read this book many times over the years, but lost my copy. I was very pleased to find the kindle version and was able to reunite myself with this wonderful story. It is a heartwarming insight into the hardships that very poor people had to endure in the past. How some of them triumphed over their problems, while others didn't.

A very touching story of family loyalties, struggles and successes in a small east end alley.
The story becomes more intense as the children of the alley grow up and the reader can follow their tribulations as they find love, success and are more often than not disappointed.
Kennedy is a natural writer and the characters are very real. Mary, the gentle one and mother figure to all; Lil, the drunk; Colleen; full of ideas and craving fame and Arthur, kind and considerate.
This is a must read for everyone who enjoys family sagas.
I read it for the first time five years ago and have been hooked on it ever since.
