Format: Blu-ray
First - Brian Cox is always watchable no matter what and given this is a horror even more so.
Second - the premise. Grisly goings on in a morgue on a stormy night
Third - Not all is as it seems
Fourth - Corpses with bells on their feet so if they are mistaken for dead they jingle if they move. Only trouble is a corpse walking about jingling is really creepy
Fifth - The ending. Loved it.

An intriguing narrative structure: the story progresses as the morticians delve deeper within Jane Doe's body. Some well-crafted scares, and a good atmosphere of foreboding maintained throughout. Brian Cox has got a great presence for horror, as he proved in The Ring. Overall, this is definitely worth a watch.

An atmospheric and slow burn horror story reminiscent of early John Carpenter and notable for the dynamic duo combo of seasoned thesp Brian Cox and his on-screen protégé Emile Hirsch. They carry the bulk of the film with a believable odd couple-esque chemistry that keeps you engaged while you wait for the bloodletting terror to arrive. Director André Øvredal keeps things grounded with his washed out visual pallet and the gruesome details of the autopsy itself, which is gross enough to turn off a lot of mainstream audiences, but the film still uses every horror cliche in the book, including false jump scares involving cats and bad taste practical jokes; scary things suddenly appearing in front of spyholes; doors slamming of their own accord and lights blowing out etc. Still, the cliches are forgivable because this is a well made film for its small budget. It's a tale of horror that takes its time to unfurl and, if you are patient, it pays off in the scares department. 'The Autopsy of Jane Doe' is a small treat for any hardcore horror movie fan, but perhaps a little too intense and grisly for the casual film goer.
