This kit contains a Surface Detailing Clay Bar together with an instant detailing lubricant (Rapid Detailer). Use together to remove embedded road grime, tar, tree sap, overspray, industrial fallout and other common paint contaminants. The Surface Detailing Clay Bar is a specially formulated clay compound that quickly and safely removes contaminants that are trapped on the paint surface. The clay works by 'grabbing' microscopic particles and pulling them free from the surface leaving an ultra smooth finish in preparation for polishing.

As you work the clay across even seemingly spotless paintwork at first you can feel a drag caused by the microscopic particles bonded to the paintwork then after a few light strokes it goes much smoother as it picks up all the particles. When you look at the clay you can see the astonishing amount of contamination it picks up, also when you rub your hand across the area that has been clayed then an area that hasn't you can feel and hear the difference and if the paint is really badly contaminated you can see the difference.
I split the clay into 3 equal parts which gives you 3 pads about the size Autoglym suggests so there is enough clay to do 3 car's (assuming you don't drop any on the floor in which case you must throw it away). You could split it into 2 parts or not split it up at all which might speed up the process a bit.Read more ›
It's not often I run back to my Desktop to write an amazon review on a product I have only just got, But this product has got to be one of the most satisfying purchases I have made in the past 12 months. It's brilliant and it contains everything you need for the event.
Now, I'm no professional enthusiast but it's obvious this does what is says on the tin. I had been watching some car detailing videos on You Tube and came across the concept of Clay'ing a car. It seemed quite straight forward but I wasn't sure what size clay bar I needed or how much detailing spray etc etc, so I decided to go for a 'kit'. Some reviewers had claimed that there was not enough detailing solution in this kit for a family sized car, I am happy to disagree. I Have a large 4 x 4 Cayenne (BLACK), and I'm happy to say I was able to complete the whole process without worry. There is plenty to do a great job and have 10% left to show your friends what an amazing product this is. The advise is to split the Bar into three, so you can discard when you have exhausted the piece and to cover you in case you drop it. This is great advice, as When I did the front nose of the car, I noticed allot of debris from the Bumper side. To avoid scratching my body paint I immediately started with a new piece. At the very last point I dropped my 3rd piece, luck I was done.
I followed with the super resin polish (supplied) and my car looks (& feels ) fab.
Although this is the 1st Clay bar I have used, I recommend this AutoGlym product without hesitation.
PS. Use in a shaded area/garage, as the detailer can evaporate quickly.
I've tried a lot of Autoglym stuff on my Candy White Scirocco and I've usually had good results, so I decided to go with the same tried and tested brand for my first shot at the claying process. Doubtless, there are many more specialist options that you could go with (Dodo Juice etc.) for fairly comparable prices, but this has the benefit of having everything you need in one box.
The process is not difficult, but it is fairly time consuming. After washing the car (Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner 500ml. with a lambswool washmitt, followed by drying with an Autoglym Aqua Dry), you spray on the lube to a small section - like quarter of a bonnet for example - and gently rub the clay over the surface. The effect is noticeable, and fairly instant. A panel that you thought was fairly clean becomes stunningly smooth to the touch, and all the invisible road film, tree sap etc. is gone.
Some sections need more work than others; the lower parts of the front doors on my car were covered in tar spots and these took a bit longer to come off. After doing each section, the supplied microfibre cloth makes a great job of removing the overspray and shines to a decent finish.
The kit also contains a small (100ml) bottle of Super Resin Polish.Read more ›
