Authentic Soviet Army Soldier Ushanka Winter Hat.
Unissued Military Surplus - Manufactured in Soviet Union in mid-late 80s.
This winter hat was made for Soviet soldiers to keep their heads warm even during the coldest days of Siberian winters.
There are three layers of materials to achieve the utmost in warmth for the coolest temps:
The wool top adds extra warmth and acts as water resistant shell. The nature of the woolen fabric is such that it does not absorb moisture: even when it was raining, a Soviet Army soldier's head stayed dry and warm.
Cotton lining is padded with layers of cotton, wool and flax fibers.
Thick and soft 50% wool 50% artificial fur keeps the ears and neck warm.
For your convenience Soviet soldier hat badge will come unattached to the hat.
Sold by eWinterHats.
Quick shipping from our warehouse in Moscow, Russia. Delivery usually takes 8-14 business days to most countries in the world.
How to measure your head and choose the right hat size:
Wrap a measuring tape around head, 1.5 cm (5/8 in.) above eyebrows and ears.
If you don't have a tape measure, use a string and then measure the string.
add 2 cm or 0.8 inch to the measurement
and compare with the size chart.
If in between 2 sizes, go to the larger size.

The quality is excellent and is exactly as described on site, delivery took 7 days from ordering on a Sunday night so no complaints there.
Badges come seperately and are easy to fit if required . I fitted them as it sets the look of the hat as a genuine Soviet surplus item. Thank you letter is enclosed if there are any problems with the item regarding sizes or defects, again easy to understand and follow.
My size is a 58 but I ordered a 62 and fits perfectly, so follow advice in sizing section.
Now if I can get my hat off of my sons, who think its cool ............
Should have ordered a 62cm…

Oh it’s not all itchy like the Thinsulate hats they sell in most shops over here…that hat will be used on the boys snowman this year!!
.(ITS ALSO AN OPTION NOT TO ATTACH THE BADGE SHOWN IN THE PHOTO....)
You do not feel the cold temperature at all, surprisingly, (is made of wool), for the hour that you are shoveling the snow if it's raining or snowing "wet" snow the hat became wet and heavy but your head remains dry. The protection extend to all of your neck if you fold the flap on the back, meaning a great difference compared with other type of hats, or to part of your face and chin with flaps completely down. only with a strong wind in front of you, there is some cold arriving on the front part of your ears. the hat is well made, no cheap stuff. Decent delivery time to Italy, no tax to be paid. perhaps the laces of the flaps are not too strong. Looks beautifull to me as well. You really need to carefully follow the advise on their website about sizes otherwise you will get a hat that is too small for you.
As well as being cool, it is also very warm. The heavy felt outer with a cotton inner and a kapok filling make it about as weatherproof as you can get. The furry sideflaps drop down to keep your ears warm too. It weighs a ton, even when dry, though, so it'll build up your neck muscles. My one complaint is that it tends to get a little itchy. I like to persuade myself that it's something to do with the residue of the sarin gas that the original owner was subjected to. That's a much cooler explanation than that it's just a little itchy.
My original was a 60cm size. It was a little too tight to be perfectly comfortable, but it was several years before I found the next size up in stock (62cm) which a much better fit.
Unfortunately this hat was severely delayed and took over a month to arrive but I didn't mind as the seller always promptly answered my e-mails for information. The problem was with the Russian Postal Service & Customs. Apparently only one shipment of hats that was sent out on one particular day was affected.
To conclude, I love this hat and look forward to wearing it. Will my employer like the hat as much as I do - only one way to find out!
