I hope you find the following points useful:
    1. Check online first to see if you have a strong signal in your area. Without it you're DOOMED.
    2. Do as they say: scan for stations using a rooftop aerial if possible. At least you know the stations are "caught" even if you have trouble locating them later.
    3. After reading the horror stories, I did not dare put the mini disc in the slot in my laptop so downloaded the software from the website. This was easy to do but then I couldn't find it... so I opened a dedicated folder for the 3 software items and downloaded them again.
    4. My computer is quite old with not much space left on the hard disk. Make sure you have enough before you embark on the "journey".
    5. Setting up the software is easy & the interface is user-friendly. (Thank you, I said).
    6. The supplied aerial is useless unless you're very lucky. (Mine half-heartedly picked up 2 stations & I decided it wasn't worth expending more effort). I then researched aerials and bought a Philex 27769R from B & Q. The supplied cable is quite short so I also bought a 5m aerial extension.
    7. The aerial worked immediately but, as expected, it took some fiddling to find the best position. Boy, did I need that aerial extension!
    8. I now have an excellent picture & 77 stations to choose from. There is very slight freezing now & then, especially on full screen, but not enough to get bothered about. I haven't tried recording etc. yet. I am not a great telly watcher and wanted TV on the laptop mainly for the news. The remote control didn't work at first but the battery was the wrong way round so that was easily solved.

A couple of years ago I bought the August T205. It works beautifully with Windows Vista and Win7. I use it with Windows Media Center. the software supplied with the August isn't worth looking at. I built a media machine using a August T210 and a PCTV DVB-T2 so I could simultaneously record two channels. I recently decided to add a third tuner and bought a second T210. It turns out that there is a serious shortcoming in the device driver for this device and a second device of this type cannot be recognized by Windows. I swapped the second T210 with the SD T205 and got a third tuner OK. So now I have a media system with 2 HD tuners and 1 SD tuner. In spite of that setback I think the T210 is a very good tuner at the price. It is every bit as good as the much dearer PCTV DVB-T2. Just don't expect to have more than one in a system.
Added these comments a few months later. The tuner keeps 'disappearing' from Windows. It becomes an 'unknown' device. Each time it happens I can take it out, let it cool and then Windows will recognize it correctly when it is refitted. This may be a one-off faulty device. I have another in a different system and I am monitoring it closely.
Added this comment a couple of weeks later. Both T210 tuner exhibit the same behaviour. They 'disappear from Windows. I have also noticed a number of 'Blue SCreen of Death' incidents since fitting this device. This never happened in the past.
This is nothing like as reliable a tuner as the PCTV DVB-T2. My advice is don't buy it.

I got the item to be able to add RTE and TG4 programs. I bought the item 2nd hand. Since the DVB-T2 card works well I can use HD once I get a computer with >= 2 Ghz clock speed, until then I can just record at non-HD resolutions.

    Findings so far:
    1. My previous (non-HD) stick worked fine with Win and Linux and was recognized instantly. Could be used in Linux without any configuration. This August DVB-T2 210 required installing from the 64 bit folder (normal setup does not work). The seller had links to the suitable software (drivers for win, Totalmedia 3). The totalmedia3 software works well.
    2. This stick can switch much quicker between channels than my previous one. Picture quality is clear and sharp and recordings look well. I have hooked it up to our roof-mounted aerial and not even tried the small aerial it came with. Scanning for channels took a while, but it found all of them, no problem.
    3. Under linux (Ubuntu 13.04) the syslog shows that the device is recognized and supported by the kernel. Currently Me-TV and VLC can not use the stick because the OS does not make /etc/dbv nor /dev/dvb/. That may need some time :-( It looks unlikely that HD willbe possible, but I may get it to work.

Overall: A bit disappointed that it does not "just work" in linux (cannot get it to work yet) and Windows. In Win 7 and Win 8 64 bit the stick works without problems after a setup that was a bit fiddly. When it works the reception is good and hassle free. The software works fine.

    -------------------------------------

change dd July 2014. With regards to linux

Started kaffeine under kernel 3.14-1-amd64 and the card has started working. It is recognized as a DVB-T card so HD is not possible yet. It is recognized as a SONY CXD2820R. I have not compiled/patched anything just a standard Debian Install. Me-TV and Kaffeine do allow playing TV now.

It is evident to me that support is improving over time, which is great.
