a) Why did the Shadow need ozone from Dane's timeline ? They certainly didn't need it, given their existence as revealed in the last book ?
b) Why did the Shadow's quest for energy increased dramatically in the present time compared to earlier, as testified to by their attempts to tap into Earth's core & tectonics ?
c) Instead of trying to destroy Earth, they could have kept tapping it for power from tectonics like they'd been doing for millennia.
d) They could have taken radioactive materials from various timelines even before man developed nuclear technology & they could have built reactors with their far superior technology.
e) The Shadow had the technology to build advanced weapons & shields (like Valkyrie suits) & to be able to create gates & portals across timelines but had to rely on human suffering (an uncertain commodity) to power their craft like the sphere. Sounds improbable, highly unlikely & downright silly.

The author continues to marry up past and present events, also bringing in historical figures into the story as main characters.
The series remains interesting enough to continue reading and for the most part remains fast paced and always enjoyable. It seems to me that the whole story, through the character of Dan, takes only a few short days, although the story is spread over many books.
What is also refreshing is that the 'good guys' don't get away unscathed - there is much damage that happens to the Earth (so far as I know).
Maybe this series would be better in an omnibus version??
I thoroughly enjoyed being back in B.C 480 watching Spartan King Leonidas prepare his 300 men for battle.Back to the present and to the Nazca lines in Chilie.Parallel Earth, inbetween space, time and the future,it's all in this book.I couldn't put it down,it's brilliant writing for anyone who enjoys this type of story.
I give it 5* because from the first page i was hooked.
