I first must declare an interest: I was one of the proof-readers for this book; however, what follows is in no way swayed by this fact.

Having previously sailed only through the Mediterranean, this pilot book was my first encounter with the works of the renowned Anne Hammick. As a proof-reader one has to try to stay at a distance from the work, but in this case it was a difficult task as the text was so absorbing!

Hugely informative, packed with useful information such as local history, contact channels, telephone numbers, email addresses, way-points etc. Apart from the text, the book has a substantial number of harbour charts, as well as photographs which are not only interesting but very informative.

There is so much information in this excellent book that I am less concerned about the difficulty of obtaining large-scale printed charts of the area; I am considering doing without them for a season as a trial.

In summary, a truly excellent buy, and a "must have" for anyone contemplating cruising these beautiful islands.

I'll see in some weeks whether it's consistent with reality, but for preparation purposes it's excellent. Use of another guide book (e.g. lonely planet) for on shore activities is however recommended.
