After reading the reviews of this book. Hundreds of positive reviews, I thought I'd give it a go. Now I'm no stranger to anxiety and have suffered to the extent of having agoraphobia so bad I didn't leave my home for four years. I've been through CBT, counselling, drugs -everything. Nothing helps. So I thought I'd try a self help book written by a sufferer as most shrinks have no idea, other than book learning. This book seemed to fit. Author claimed to have suffered for 10 years etc
Hmmm.
As you read the book it turns out that he suffered anxiety due to overwork and drug abuse. Now Anxiety isn't the same for everyone, even thought this chap claims it is. He also had one panic attack in 10 years!! ONE. Now, I know it's not a contest, but most sufferers I've met have that in a day!! And, he gives the impression he completely managed to cure his anxiety like Superman! What he does in this book is rehash another authors work from the 70's - I think other reviewers mention her - with lots, and I mean lots of 'emails' from people who have seen the light as well.
Anyway, to the book.
170 pages that can be summarised thus. Relax. If you feel anxiety. Don't fight it. Relax and it will pass. ignore it, fight it etc and it will get worse. Don't avoid stuff just because you feel uncomfortable, it will only get worse. Relax. All good advice actually. What is crap is that he provides absolutely no help on how to do that. He just says do it, like Nike!
No guidance on how HE actually achieved nirvana, other than it was difficult. It's 170 pages of self published rubbish and NOT worth £12-13. Plus the typesetting is awful. Not one paragraph indentation. It hurts the eyes after a bit.
Sent it back.
