EZ Flash 3: Update the BIOS via the internet, and from within the BIOS.
Digi+ VRM: Digi+ VRM voltage-regulator module (VRM) ensures ultra-smooth and ultra-clean power delivery to the CPU at all times.
Highly durable components: Fine-quality, super-tough components are the watchwords. ASUS only fits high quality chokes. The durable capacitors are engineered to resist extreme temperature variations of between - 55 degree Celsius and 105 degree Celsius - 110 per cent better than the industry standard.
DRAM overcurrent protection: All connection ports and DRAM are protected against overcurrent and short-circuit damage by onboard resettable fuses, extending your motherboard's life.
Stainless steel back I/O: Crafted from chromium-plated, corrosion-resistant stainless steel, the input/output (I/O) panel is three times longer than ordinary panels.
Two times greater ESD protection for extended component lifespan.
ASUS ESD Guards actively protect against sudden electrostatic discharge (ESD), meaning the components will last much longer and you get protection that's up to twice as resilient as industry standards.
Audio connectors: Capacitor protection on both front and back audio-output circuits.
LAN port: ESD TVS diode protection and an anti-surge LAN connector protects against extreme events, such as lightning strikes.
USB 3/2.0 connectors: On-circuit transient-voltage-suppression (TVS) diodes and capacitor protection for surface-mount and dual-inline packages.
VGA connector: Additional on-circuit ESD TVS diodes to protect D-Sub functionality.
Keyboard and mouse connectors: Additional on-circuit ESD TVS diodes.

I upgraded from a GA-H110M-S2H motherboard since it was very limited; average audio, 1 PCIe slot, no support for the overclocking of my i7 6700k CPU (this was my first PC setup so i wasn't aware the motherboard controls overclocking).
Honestly changing the motherboard felt like rebuilding the PC back from square 1 but it's always a nice experience. I used the Artic MX4 thermal paste this time (idle CPU temps dropped from 25C to 17-20C) so that's something else I recommend (was previously using stock thermal pad that came with Corsair H60 liquid cooler).
- 2 free RAM slots
- Extra PCIe slots
- More SATA connectors + M.2 support
- cool lighting effects
- NOTICEABLY CLEARER AND LOUDER AUDIO
- overclocking support (have not tested yet)
- Nice BIOS, loads fast after the second boot.
- The Type-A USB 3.1 slot seems unnecessary to me. I have nothing with a proper type-A 3.1 cable to go into that port, nor could I find any online, they're all type-C. Anyway, I tried plugging my mouse into that slot and it began to "miss" a lot of movements. Perhaps it'd be very good for file transfer though all USB storage comes with 3.0 eitherway... which makes the type A USB 3.1 slot useless. I don't use all the USB slots so this problem doesn't affect the 5* rating I leave.
Probably the best motherboard at this price range.
The only downsides are really the issue of the format, rather than the board itself. The M.2 drive port is located on the rear of the motherboard, which means it doesn't interfere with the graphics card, but does mean you have to remove the board altogether if you need to upgrade or replace it. The onboard Wi-Fi is okay, but despite advertising itself as AC capable, I find this link drops out rather too frequently. Again, this may be down to interference or the quality of the offboard aerial, but it's not ideal. The wired Ethernet connection is much more solid, though.
Overall, it's a cracking board and definitely worth looking at if you want a small and powerful gaming rig.
I've been using ASUS motherboards for quite some time and I'm always happy with the feature set and the build, and this was no exception (ok the flashing red lights etc are a bit over the top for me, but it's made to appeal to gamerz even if I just got it for workstation use).
The first board to arrive was unfortunately dead-on-arrival (I reseated everything several times but got no POST) but these things happen - the returns process via Amazon was remarkably painless and the replacement board arrived next day and works fine.
I could probably overclock, but I'm more than happy with this at standard settings, plenty of RAM and some quiet case fans turning slowly means more to me most of the time, and the ESD protection and easy BIOS updates give me peace of mind for this being the heart of my build for the next few years.
Having the M.2 socket underneath the board works well in terms of reducing the clutter with the rest of the build. If you can get a case with access to the drive underneath the board, this would be a massive boon if you need to reseat / upgrade the drive. Otherwise, you will probably need to hoik everything out of the case to get at the drive underneath the board and then rebuild everything.
Minor quibbles and still very satisfied with the purchase. Recommended!
Great to have on board Wifi/Bluetooth and full size M.2 support on the underside. Also USB 3.1 type-A on two of the rear ports and great audio from this board.
This is my first motherboard from ASUS and I love it. The functionality and utilities such as AI Suite 3 beautifully controlling fans, monitoring and controlling frequency/ voltage/ power delivery is such an ease.
Overall a great foundation to build your system on.
