"The excellent Villa's Greatest Games. Here's a chance to take a break from the team's current plight and re-live some of the best moments in the club's history." --The Villa News & Record - Aston Villa matchday programme
"Covers games from 1892 up until the end of last season - and Villa have a rich history, including winning the European Cup in 1982. To cover such a period the author must have researched the reports of the day. Some of the descriptions of matches are fitted on to half a page whereas others are in more detail and take up five or six pages. At the start of the book is a nice piece about a 91-year-old Villa fan who saw his first game in 1928. More of a historical reference to the matches rather than being anecdotal and so will have much more of an appeal to Villa fans than a wider football-supporting audience." --Programme Monthly
"If you're looking for Villa-related books for Christmas, Aston Villa's Greatest Games does exactly what it says on the cover - its 272 pages take you back to some of the most memorable matches ever played by the boys in claret and blue. Written by lifelong supporter James Driver-Fisher, it covers every decade of Villa's 141-year history, from the non-stop trophy-winning years of the 19th century to the amazing 6-4 League Cup semi-final victory over Blackburn Rovers in 2010. In between, there's everything from Third Division football to European Cup glory. " --The Villa News & Record - Aston Villa Match Day Programme
"Covers more than 100 significant games in the history of Villa Park's finest." --Soccer History magazine
"The intentions of the book are vast. It sets out to cover the club's most glorious, epochal and thrilling games from its Victorian foundation to the Premier League era. As a historical document for the early games, it is detailed and enlightening. As a reference point for who scored when and how it happened, the book delivers. Details can be interesting and insightful." --FootballPink.net
