Read it. Obey it. If you do, people will appreciate it. And they'll appreciate you. If you don't, they'll judge you.

Like other reviewers, I bought this overly priced AP Stylebook because AP style is required for work. And while I do not take issue with AP style, I take issue with this book. It is unbelievably tone-deaf and poorly organized. In its zeal to be relevant, it lists so many items that do not belong here. Must we consult the AP Stylebook to know who Diane von Furstenberg is? Yet I spent 15 minutes searching and searching for how to abbreviate volts: V or v or volts? The index was no help. All-important numerals are all densely lumped into one numerals category. The only way I can manage this book is to create tabs all throughout with sticky notes. Perhaps the online version is easier to work with?
What is there not to like about the AP stylebook

What is there not to like about the AP stylebook. Easy to use. 2017 is larger than the previous. Love the spiral hinge and it's all durable for constant use.

These books are always helpful, especially when my computer is off.

I grabbed this for the office. The one I had was a little outdated. These books are always helpful, especially when my computer is off and I need clarification while marking up a manuscript. Everything in this book can be found on Google in a few seconds, so I can't say everyone needs this book. But, it does have its uses.

As the editor of a bi-monthly newsletter for our community I had been using The Associated Press Stylebook dated 1990. The Communications Committee that oversees the publication of this newsletter agreed that we needed an updated version. We chose the spiral-bound version for the convenience of having the book stay open while working at the keyboard. We needed updated guidelines so that our publication could have a correct and consistent format.
