Despite the mobilization of the inhabitants to root out the werewolves among them, the hamlet of Miller's Hollow has been devastated by the lycanthropes. The fierce creatures now haunt the hamlet and the villagers bar themselves in their huts, making sure none of their own goes out after nightfall.
Yet there is still hope. Hidden deep in the wastes, the resistance is organizing and getting ready. New characters with promising talents have joined the fight against the terrible werewolves and so nothing has yet to be lost, but the struggle will be difficult, as the New Moon is here!

#a small deck of cards
#a 2"x2" sticker sheet with 5 stickers

Thats it. It's pretty underwhelming particularly with the amount you spend on it.
What it adds to the game is a lot though. You get 5 new characters, a deck of cards that can really change the rules either permanently or for a single day/night/cycle.
Characters: The 5 stickers are placed on regular villager cards that add 5 new roles. Its not the prettiest solution-- I would have just preferred more player cards, but it works. The Piper is pretty uninteresting and we rarely play with him but I like the Elder, the Defender, the Village Idiot and Scapegoat. It's nice to simply have more roles because few people like to be regular villagers every time. The Piper tries to mesmerize everyone. The guardian gets to protect one person each turn (but never the same person twice in a row), the elder can survive two wolf attacks, the Village Idiot is protected from being killed by the village but cannot vote/argue. The Scapegoat controls who votes but is more likely to be killed by vote. It adds new dynamics and is interesting if you have grown bored of the original roles. Otherwise, its hard to justify the purchase.
Cards: The cards provide an interesting twist that can be interesting but sometimes makes the games go long. The cards all modify at least one turn and some are permanent modifiers. All in all they are well done and interesting and will add variety-- again, very cool if the original game has gotten stale but not worth it otherwise.
Rules: They provide a list of new rule variations. Some are sold as variations but are simply ways to make the game more atmospheric or to chain together two game groups. Others add very interesting twists on the original game. All in all it maximizes the amount of variety that the expansion provides and there are somoe cool ideas.
This is an excellent expansion that we enjoy a lot. The thing is that you don't get much and what you do get could be better. The rules you could find online for free. The new roles should have been new cards and not cheap stickers you put on existing player cards. The cards are about the only thing that is really worthy. It makes me a little sad because Werewolves-- as a Mafia variant is a game that requires little to no actual materials. You could easily play Werewolves and New Moon if you just knew the rules and made up your own player cards. Its the quality of the cards in the original pack that keeps me playing, and unfortunately this expansion provides a ton of variation and fun but very low quality paraphernalia for play (particularly the stickers). If I'm going to spend money on a game that could be free, I want good, high quality items.
Still this is fairly well priced and if its price vs. fun, its a great value. Just a little disappointing on quality.
You also get a deck of cards that change game play abit. But I havn't used these yet so I can't tell you how they work.
New Moon will work with the original deck or the village expansion since they are just stickers that you put on the cards.
